Mayor didn't consult residents on votes
Dear Editor,
At the U.S. Conference of Mayors recent annual meeting in Miami, is it to be assumed that the mayors represented the views of the people of their cities?
I wasn't consulted by Ms. Hosterman. The resolutions she signed, especially the anti-ANWR drilling agreement, definitely do not represent my opinion on the subject. (We need to utilize our own considerable oil resources.) When, where and how can the people of Pleasanton let their ideas be known and considered? Do we have a voice on these matters?

That is how your can have a voice on these matters. You need to be a Mayor to attend the Conference of Mayors. If you want to have a voice locally, you may want to run for City Council. I believe the election is on November 4.

However, us Pleasanton taxpayers paid for the trip for her to go to this conference and so I believe that means she should be representing the people of Pleasanton and not herself at the conference.

I don't think our mayor meeting to discuss world issues on our dime is quite as bad as what else has been done in our names. What kind of people are against peace and goodwill aside from the war-mongers and profiteers?

Posted by fact checker, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Jul 4, 2008 at 3:14 pm The article was wrong. The Anwar thing happened in 2006 NOT 2008!
She did represent some people with the other vote.
That certainly wasn't the only things discussed at the meeting! Pleasanton won honorable mention for the design of Fire Station #1, among other things.
