This is a poorly written article. A police department can not drop charges. Once one is arrested, it is the district attorneys office who files or dismisses charges. Based on his "tweet", it sounds like the DA dismissed it for a variety of reasons (interest of justice, proceed on a lesser count, further investigation required, etc). And just because charges are dropped, doesn't mean the crime was not committed.

Cmon, PW, you have demonstrated your amateurism repeatedly in reporting on this incident. It could give one the impression you have an agenda against the Dublin Police. Or, perhaps it just your left wing colored glasses.

I would agree with "Anonymous" comments regarding "And just because charges are dropped, doesn't mean the crime was not committed". The fact remains that Stanley was driving a car with expired registration tags.
