I think it's very telling of this candidates ability to work with others that the East Bay Realtors and ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors) are not endorsing her. Wouldn't you think the professional associations that this candidate belongs to would endorse her if she had something to offer? Think about it, Pleasanton.
I agree Jane. It speaks volumes. No way I would vote for her. If you believe in personal property or the rule of law, this is not your candidate.
The East Bay Realtors and PACs only endorse pro-growth candidates. So if you are looking for a candidate that wants to add housing to cover as much space as possible, you should look for the candidate the East Bay Realtors endorse.
So Jill, are you claiming that Ms. Brown does not belong to the organization, and if she does belong, why?
This endorsement is by the Political Action Committee of the East Bay Realtors Group. I don't believe Karla is a member of this political action committee. And yes, they'll favor a candidate that supports growth over a candidate that referendums a housing project.
Curious is correct in the above. Been there, done that and experienced the endorsement process. They only endorse Pro-growth candidates. That does not mean all realtors are voting for the endorsed candidate. Each, Pleasanton resident realtor, votes on how they feel about other issues as well,(like taxes) and not necessarily that of The East Bay Realtors Group. Most on that Board don't even live in or vote in Pleasanton. We're voting for Karla Brown! She knows and understands the issues facing Pleasanton, unlike another candidate with 8x4 ft. signs placed where they are not permitted.. Take responsibility!
She reminds of the people who bailed out Wall Street with no strings attached, but say they are all for the free market. Capitalists of convenience. She is all for property rights when it is her property, but when it is someone else's property, well tough luck. If you want a socialist, crony capitalist, vote for Brown.
Brown is nothing more than a mouthpiece for Kay Ayala, who so unlikable, she could not get elected to council. Brown has done nothing for the community of any note. Have you noticed all she says is she is a "fiscal conservative" but tell me more Brown! What are your plans, madam? The truth is you can 't trot out there without a plan of action. Brown is unlikable and she doesn't have support of those in her profession. The real estate world has said no to her. Where there is smoke there is fire.
Karla says right on her website that she is slow growth, and that is not a match with the realtor PAC - pro growth a house on every mountain top.
That must mean Erlene and Jerry took the opposite in favor of Pro Growth.
My vote goes to Karla. I don't want Pleasanton to look like NEW Dublin.
I know Karla personally. The same group that is not supporting her slow growth stance has given her lots of awards. She was even president of a Realtor group 2 years ago and was loved and respected.
She has the guts to stand up for what she believes in, and what is right for Pleasanton!
I am voting for Karla as a slow growth leader who will also take steps to fix the pensions.
Peter Malloy could not have said it better. Karla Brown is un-likeable when you get to know her. She puts on a nice smile to win your vote and then she'll do what suits her and stab you in the back if necessary. If Oak Grove was not in Ms. Karla's backyard she could have cared less. Finally, the area where Karla lives is a 15 year old development. Did the long-time residents of Vintage Hills form a group to take down the building of Kottinger Ranch? NO because it was good for the city! Oak Grove was as nice as development as Kottinger Ranch is today. It would have brought wonderful families to our town, hiking trails and money for this city and schools. But Karla said, "Not in my backyard" and put together a slick campaign about building on ridges. Don't fall for her Pleasanton. You'll regret it. But then again, it might be fun watching her stupidity in play!
What, pray tell, is a socialist capitalist? Is that like the current Red China? Trying to affix that moniker to Karla Brown is whizzing in the wind.
Being a realtor and not getting endorsed by the build-on-every-sqaure-foot-of-land realtor group is like a badge of honor. It implies that an understanding of maintaining Pleasanton as a desirable place to live, and not turning it into LA, San Jose, or East Dublin.
It that same vein, I would expect her not to be endorsed by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce PAC. Their history is also promoting covering every square foot of land with concrete and asphalt, and in endorsing loons like our current Hippy Mayor and a previous Mayor that wound up consulting for the Lins.
I just got my Sierra club newspaper (the Yodeler) and Karla Brown is the ONLY candidate for ANY Pleasanton office, endorsed by the Sierra Club. She has my vote.
If the Sierra Club had their way Pleasanton would still be a 1 horse town with bars lining Main Street. Pleasanton was built on maximizing growth opportunities with planned development. It's people who moved here like Karla who began the NIMBY movement.
Jane, it sounds like you will love new Dublin. I am sure there is room in a condo high rise with no trees, that is just right for you. She was president of her HOA and stood up for her community. Just like she will stand up for Pleasanton after she is elected.
I said "crony capitalist" not capitalist.
Sierra Club Fan,
Since when has any Pleasanton City Council ever even considered high rise condos? I take it you are on Ms Browns campaign and offering up the same misinformation to the voters of Pleasanton as was circulated during the the Oak Grove campaign just to confuse people. The more I listen to Ms Brown actually the more I wouldn't be opposed to seeing her on the council and falling flat on those ridges that's she owns! Those ridgers are hers, right? Be careful what you wish for, Ms Brown!
When James Tong and his 'consultant' Erlene DeMarcus wanted to put a 188 unit high rise/high density housing on the Vintage Hills shopping center property.
Dear Jane, it was not Karla Brown or Kay Ayala or any other small group that stopped the Oak Grove development. It was a vast majority of Pleasanton voters which totaled 9544 voting people. So deduct those two and you have 9542 people. That is your neighbors, many of your friends, the store clerk, the banker, the hair dresser, and many more. Maybe even your husband. Calm down and find some other important issue to work on that is not already decided.
We will need a slow growth member of the council to replace Cindy McGovern, my favorite! she actually listens to the citizens and represents us, not the big business groups.
Cindy told me she is supporting only one council candidate and that is Karla Brown!
