PLEASANTON -- A Regency Drive resident interrupted a burglar who was trying to break in through a side window after ringing the doorbell Monday morning, police said.
Around 11:35 a.m. the man heard his doorbell ring, but did not answer it. Moments later, he saw a man trying to break in through a sliding window from his side yard, according to a Pleasanton police press release.
After noticing he had been spotted, the suspect fled to a waiting black sedan, which headed toward Foothill Road. A few minutes later, another driver saw the occupants of a black sedan throwing objects out of their car near the intersection of Stoneridge Drive and Foothill Road, police said.
Officers later traced those objects to a home on Hopkins Way in Pleasanton that had been burglarized, police said.
