That's some comment from "guest". Sure is informative.
Well, what Stacey is referring to is exactly right. The proposed legislation will force retirement of jet aircraft under 75,000 pounds that don't meet stage 3 or better noise requirements. These aircraft are mostly business jets, so there is the potential that they may use Livermore airport. However, according to Sound Initiative, there numbers are estimated to represent only 8 percent of the business jet fleet. A listing by the same organization shows that all of the subject aircraft are older business jets which were manufactured mostly in the 1970's and 1980's. The newest one on the list is the Gulfstream III, last manufactured in 1991.
As a long time tenant of Livermore airport I witness first hand the types of business jets that are based there (a few) and the transient jets that regularly use it. All are newer aircraft, and therefore meet stage 3 or better noise requirements.
So, it's a "feel good" ban, but won't satisfy the complainers.
