It affected a local school near me - and 8 wonderful educators. Many more around the district also received those notices.
I don't know where all this will end, and I don't pretend to know all the effects to each one's family, but I do want to be sure they all know that I do Care for each of them.
I pray that each of you will be able to remain in education, because I know how much dedication is required to become a teacher. It is not an easy job, and takes a special person - with special talents and skills - to educate children.
Other school staff also received final notice yesterday. Again, a very dedicated group of individuals that supported our schools.
My words most likely ring a bit 'hollow', as I know tears have been shed and will continue to be. I know there are those who find themselves without a job at the same time their spouse has also been laid off. I know it hurts.
But, also Please know that your talents and strength have driven you in the past. And those same characteristics will be with you always.
I want you to know that you are all in my prayers...and that your work has been valued, and your presence in our schools has impacted this community in a very positive way.
You are remarkable, and I hope we get to see you back in Pleasanton schools someday.
God Bless and THANK YOU
