NATIONAL TRUST MAIN STREET CENTER® HONORS LIVERMORE, CALIFORNIA, WITH A GREAT AMERICAN MAIN STREET AWARD

LIVERMORE DEMONSTRATES EFFECTIVENESS IN CREATING A VIBRANT AND SUSTAINABLE HISTORIC COMMERCIAL DISTRICT

while the Pleasanton mayor can't even show up for the opening of the Bernal Avenue bridge, the Livermore mayor showed up to accept an award for his vibrant downtown.

the contrast bettween the mayors and cities is startling. one mayor has worked tirelessly to attract and keep businesses to his downtown, and to make it attractive and accessible to visitors.

the other mayor whose primary focus is on the global environment, has allowed her downtown to stagnate to the point of near extinction. there are more businesses closing, more empty store fronts, less access than at any other time in recent history.

one mayor has managed to succeed despite the economic downturn, while the other uses it as an excuse for her lack of effort.

one mayor accepts an award for ensuring the continued success and growth of his city. the other mayor just keeps adding to her personal collection of accolades for her environmental work while her city drifts into the economic backwaters of the tri-valley.

A huge congratulations to Livermore and it's mayor. The revitalization of Livermore's downtown is fantastic and we've been enjoying it as often as possible! What a beautiful job and the effort is paying off. There are always crowds of people to be found enjoying the great outdoors and the wide variety of stores available.

Speakink of Livermore's downtown, I read in Diablo Magazine that Eddie Papa's will be opening another location in the old Movida building.
