Pleasanton sidesteps Livermore's plan for housing near airport

Original post made on Feb 7, 2013

Avoiding another of their occasional skirmishes with Livermore over that city's municipal airport, Pleasanton leaders Tuesday said that high density housing near the airport is OK for Livermore, just so long as none gets built on the Pleasanton part of the Airport Protection Area.

349 calls to complain about the airport by one person is IDIOTIC!! Get A Life!! To have only seven calls from the rest of the community is parity damn good. I live in the meadows and very rarely do I see or hear something of concern from the airport. Just my two cents.

Should block that person's number and save our city resources for answering meaningful calls. Or this person needs to move already! :-)

So either they went on vacation for 7 days, were sick for 7 days, or called from a friend's house the other 7 days :)

What if the Airport wanted to expand? Why do we need more housing by the airport? The airport is a lifeline if there were to be an emergency of epic size.....For once can this city council thing of the needs of the many instead of the few? I wonder who on the council benefits from this anyway....few politicians do anything now a days unless there is something in it for them! Leave well enough alone! No to more Housing near the damn airport!

Dear John- Time for new glasses? the Planning Commission and Council voted to leave the airport protection area AS IT IS. Check the article, there are no changes. No houses near the airport will remain the same as it has been for years.

either way, the 349 calls from the same residence is nonsense.....i agree, calls from that number should be blocked....they've made their point. the airport is noisy....sell and move...

The airport has been there longer than any of the houses in 'east' Pleasanton. You knew what you were buying when you moved there. My first house I bought was out at the east end of Stoneridge. Occasionally there was a loud take off that the noise lasted no longer than a loud delivery truck rumbling down your street. It's so typical of people nowadays to complain about something that's been around a long time, but now that they're around, they want it gone....

liberalism is a disease is a registered user.

Just like the Chevron refinery has been in Richmond before most of the houses in the area, it won't stop some 'impacted' people from complaining. Get used to it, or get over it.....

Those residents such as Stoneridge or south of the airport around Martin and Cameron do not hear the massive noise and have their windows shake from the jets taking off in early morning hours. Jets are supposed to turn north once they take off from the airport; therefore, the most noise is those residents on Staples Ranch Drive, Vermont Place, Park Place and surrounding area and residents north of Meadows Park.

I don't understand why jets need to take off at 6:30 in the morning.

What number is the complaint number? I'm sure a bunch of us would be calling if we knew who to complain to. Where is it posted?

Most of my neighbors got tired of complaining to the City of Pleasanton. We heard that the problem is Livermore's airport, and that is outside of the city limits for Pleasanton. If you have a problem, call the Mayor's office listed on the city's website as 931-5001.

You can file online noise complaints with the Livermore Airport at: Web Link or you can call (925) 373-5050
