Is this the result of brainless and clueless, too much testosterone, or illegal substances?
If this wasn't so stupid, it'd be my laugh of the day!!
Sounds like the "victim" aggravated the situation.
No one uses their signals anymore and it does cause
problems. People aren't taught road courtesy anymore.
Slow cars in the fast lane is what causes traffic and road rage.
Passing lanes are for passing, not holding up others.
There's just too many people being 'crammed' into this area.
Something's gotta give.
Some folks got no manners.
If this would have been Arizona or Texas one of these guys would have ended up dead. Road rage there is serious stuff as everyone is strapped. Thank God for "cane swords"
I think it's waaaaaay sweet...like in cute!
I'm a passenger sometimes and I sprinkle cold mushy peas on the freeway!
It's waaaaaaaaaay funny....try it!
It's like being able to see Russia from your back porch!!!
everybody have fun...
I enjoy sugarcane...is the sword made of sugarcane?
Clearly, cane swords need to be on the list of banned assault weapons.
Maybe an honor dual at first light for a traffic discourtesy?
Leaving aside the embarrassing spectacle of two grown men behaving this way....
The fact that Mr. Cangiamilla allegedly attacked the other drive with a cane sword is (sort of) an argument FOR gun control.
Notice that the victim wasn't injured. What if Mr. Cangiamilla had a pistol? Sounds like he may have used it and later regretted it for the rest of his life.
A cane sword is a lot easier to evade than a gun, and it's a great deal more difficult to kill or injure someone with a sword than with a gun.
In fact, I'd be willing to let everybody carry swords (and duel for the best parking spots at 24 Hour Fitness) if they'd agree to give up all their guns. I can outrun a guy with a sword; I can't outrun a bullet.
A dumbell with a volkswagen. He follows an irate driver for 2.5 miles (as contained in the original report)and then exits his car to confront the guy at a stop light.
After being on the losing end of the "discussion", he calls the police and then tells them that he was just trying to get the license number. For 2.5 miles!! -- Right!! He must be a slow reader, or a driver with questionable judgment.
It took all those posts before Arroyo finally stated the obvious. The idiot "victim" was being an aggressor, or at the least contributed to the escalation of the behavior by continuing to follow the Jeep and then exiting his vehicle to confront the driver.
Neither gentleman comported himself with any sense of maturity, good manners, or self-control.
Thank goodness neither of them had a "gun in the glove compartment".
Indeed, the cell phone is mightier than the sword....
The bottom line, one of these - humans - carries a weapon in his car, and attempted to use it upon the other. And inflicted damage upon the other's vehicle.
"Arroyo" & "Yup" want to overlook the first stage of escalation, where Mr. C. (while still on I-580)moves across lanes, passes traffic on the right, crosses lanes to pull in front of Mr. Volkswagen, and continues swerves across lanes in front of him.
Dave, I'm not overlooking what reportedly instigated the event but pointing out that the victim contributed to the escalation.
For the record, I Did Not have a sword cane, it was an umbrella and I used it to defend myself. Not once but twice this guy got out of his car and hit mine. I am totally disabled and how is it, that Todd, follows me from Livermore to Pleasanton, (5 plus miles) when he lives in Dublin?) how is it that I am the aggressor? To me, it was simply Saturday, Todd, apparently thinks too highly of himself. A 40 year old, afraid of a 62year old, 100 percent disabled man? Give me a break.
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
As I understand it, you are still charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a cane sword and vandalism. I know that you have pleaded not guilty and your case is set for a pretrial hearing on Sept. 4.
I will continue to follow your case and report on the outcome.
If you would like to reach me, feel free to email me at email@example.com or call my office number, 925-600-0840 ext. 121.
What was the outcome of this story?
It is all so crazy. But, I certainly do understand blowing steam if somebody is 'not driving', and just taking up space on the road. Far more accidents are 'caused' by SLOW, incompetent drivers, than competent, alert, fast drivers.
@Driver: "Far more accidents are 'caused' by SLOW, incompetent drivers, than competent, alert, fast drivers."
Yeah, I'm sure that what's going through the minds of all those morons on the freeway who blast past other cars while dangerously weaving across lanes. They're thinking :"If I get into an accident, it's not my fault. It's the fault of all the slow incompetent drivers around me."
