CA Real Estate PAC dumps $23,000 to support Thorne

Original post made by Fact Checker, Downtown, on Nov 4, 2012

Wowza. In a report filed this week with the Pleasanton City Clerk, California Real Estate PAC spent $23,000 to support Mayoral Candidate Jerry Thorne. Big money, that is more than half of the expenditure limit for a candidate. Where is the story about this?

Well, our housing values are key to our city. Intragal to Pleasanton's viability. Housing prices need a good responsible city (&low taxes), and city nees good house prices...dependent on each other.

I think someone in our local real estate group Bay East should respond as to why Jerry Thorne deserves $23,000 in campaign expenditures! According to their website, 2 people would have directed this money to Jerry, either Tricia Thomas or my neighbor Dave Stark? What gives?

Sorry 'dependent'. School scores will keep our house values up, not the political party of the mayor.

Actually I think this realtor group supported Cheryl last time, now they are paying $23k to keep her out.

A Super PAC gone bad, with way too much dough.

"School...."
If the donation had been made by the Teacher's Union, would it still be a "super-pac gone bad, with way too much dough"?

Please check your facts...I can tell you it's NOT Bay East giving $23,000 to one local candidate but it could be the state PAC-California Association of REALTORS or maybe the National Association of REALTORS (doubtful) but I am most certain it is NOT the Bay East Association of REALTORS

Fact Checker,

You failed your moniker, your "facts" are not facts. You either are lousy and what you profess to be, or you are a left wing-nut that's trying to get left wing-nut Cook-Kallio elected. If you are going to represent yourself as a fact checker, get the facts correct.

By the way, have you checked out how much the unions have contirbuted to Cook-Kallio? Have you investigated how much payola they have given Crook-Kallio? Is your "fact checking" perhaps a bit biased?

I am sick of he name calling from Jerry's camp! It reflects poorly on him and his supporters.

I would assume that "Standing up for Pleasanton" is a reference to him taking on/fighting outside influences dictating to Pleasanton (thinking along the lines of state mandated housing caps, etc.). $23K from any PAC seems to be, shall I say, rather contradictory, perhaps hypocritical, particularly with the Lin lawsuit and proposed development still an issue.

They must think Thorne is all about being pro-growth. I was going to vote for him, but not now.

Wow, what a shocker, eh?

Real Estate interests trying to back favorable candidates in local elections, who'd a guessed that one?
