TEA Partier arrested after shooting at GLSEN offices in DC

No, to clarify, the above headline is not true. But what did happen in Washington DC yesterday might've easily slipped by you, if you get your news from these mainstream TV networks. A left-wing fanatic attempted to enter the DC offices of the Family Research Council, armed with a handgun and two extra clips. He was confronted by a staff member and shot the man. Despite taking a bullet in his arm, the staff member and others subdued the man.
Police arrested Floyd Lee Corkins, a volunteer at the D.C. Center for the LGBT Community. After he was subdued, he reportedly told the man whom he had just shot, "Don't shoot me, it was not about you, it was what this place stands for."
So we have, apparently, a left-winger going out with a gun with the intent to kill people solely because of their political views. Or perhaps just because they work for a political organization who's values he disagrees with.
To their credit, many LGBT organizationsincluding GLAAD, GLSEN, the Human Rights Campaign and the National Center for Transgender Equalityreleased a joint statement regarding the shooting:
We were saddened to hear news of the shooting this morning at the offices of the Family Research Council. Our hearts go out to the shooting victim, his family, and his co-workers.
The motivation and circumstances behind today's tragedy are still unknown, but regardless of what emerges as the reason for this shooting, we utterly reject and condemn such violence. We wish for a swift and complete recovery for the victim of this terrible incident.
The words seen in anonymous speech areas like twitter were often less sympathetic. I was not surprised at this. Often, when I give my conservative views, especially in the PW forum, I receive the same type of (usually anonymous) abuse. I am called hateful, a bigot, racist, etc.
As one commenter wrote yesterday on twitter, "Apparently, some of the NOH8 crowd isn't against hate at all -- they just want you to hate different people."

Jim, we are all so very tired of the double standard displayed constantly in the big left wing Corp media. It's obvious for all to see and yet nothing is done. Our only apparent recourse is to avoid the left's mouthpieces and look for alternate sources of news and information. With so many people turning away from the old media outlets and to the internet, eventually the advertisers will go where the money is.
As far as the leftist hatred being displayed, it's not given more emphasis by the press because dems and liberals controlling the press feel it's OK to discriminate, bash and assault Christians and conservative citizens...they are the last politically correct targets of the left's bigotry and intolerance. No one would tolerate this type of treatment of gays or illegals, but we're not part of the protected class (of dem voters).

Yes, it is a terrible tragedy that this violence had to happen. But the real tragedy is that people somehow erroneously link gun violence with the people who lobby to promote Americans' rights to commit violent acts with guns. It is a point of the utmost truthiness that most shootings are done by tofu-eating, library-browsing, wicker-weaving pacifist commies, and not by the gun-wielding, war-glorifying, Ted-Nugent-listening saints, heroes and patriots of the far right.
Luckily, people are turning away from the news that denies such truthiness. I hear, for example, that Loser Salon has been effectively shut down by a single tweet from Donald Trump, so there's hope in that, at least. However, radical leftist "fact-checkers" at Atlantic have pointed out that under the Ryan budget, Romney would pay an effective tax rate of .8%, so clearly Fox News and Weasel Zippers still have a lot of work ahead of them.
With luck--and especially with prayer!--we may one day be free to choose from an array of news outlets that tells us what we want to hear, rather than the elitist facts of the lamestream.
Booyah con Dios, mijos!
