As a long time attendee of the Friday concerts I have to say that the crowds are getting really out of hand. This Friday we will have a group that attracts the largest crowd of the summer. We will also have at least a dozen residents who put tarps or plastic coated blankets on the lawn, causing brown spots. We will have car loads of people who double and triple park on First Street to avoid walking a few extra yards to unload their stuff. We will have hoards of people who think they are too good to pick up their trash and either put it into garbage cans or take it home. They will leave it throughout the park to be picked up by city employees on overtime on Saturday or to end up in the yards of the residents across the street. We will have people who insist on staying in the park after 10PM along with their screaming kids to disturb the people living near the park.
What is it about this town that people feel so entitled that they refuse to use common sense and be respectable human beings? A free concert does not need to bring out the absolute worst in people but it sure seems to do that here.
Just follow a few basic rules, it is common courtesy and nothing more. Do NOT put tarps on the lawn, you kill it when you do that. Do NOT leave your trash in the park for someone else to pick up. Do NOT stay in the park after 10 PM, consider the people living around it and take your screaming kids and barking dogs home!
