Is it true that football programs more than pay for themselves? Does anyone know. I hear that a lot, but I have no idea if it is true.

Nobody has ever said that Pleasanton has a great school district because of the sports teams. So no, the programs do not pay for themselves. However, I think it is a good thing and probably keeps some kids in school that would not have completed their schooling, plus it gives the kids something to do after school, instead of causing trouble. Amador Valley athletic boosters raise a ton of money. I am not sure why Foothill cannot do the same. Also, if there is not a lot of support in the boosters at the school, that kind of says something about the parents of kids in the sports. I think Foothill needs to learn more on what Amador does and "step up to the plate". I don't want to see Amador sports having to be canceled because Foothill cannot raise as much money.

to xzy... someone told me that football program is the one that has the largest negative balance at FHS. I don't know if that is true or not.
Jill...why are pitting one school against the other?
