Tri-Valley Soccer Clubs - Eric Cavalli Fundraiser

Original post made by Gary Thurner on Jul 12, 2011

Tri-Valley Soccer Clubs to hold soccer fundraiser.
On July 17 San Ramon, Danville, Dublin and Pleasanton will be hosting a one day soccer tournament to support Eric Cavalli. The goal is for 100% of the proceeds to go directly to Eric's Family. This tournament is not tied to any one club but backed by the clubs in the area. It will be a great opportunity to have a play day for your team prior to the start of more serious events and help out a fellow soccer player.

Eric Cavalli, who played soccer for Ballistic United Soccer Club and Foothill High School, was seriously injured in a snowboarding accident on February 13, 2011. Eric landed on his shoulder and neck, and has suffered injuries to his neck, collarbone, aorta, lungs, kidneys and liver. He had to undergo emergency heart surgery to repair the aorta and was in the ICU for several weeks following the incident. Eric is presently unable to walk, and his progress and condition are guarded.
The medical and rehabilitation costs have been immense, and unfortunately, Eric was without medical insurance coverage at the time of the accident. Eric was attending school at U.C. Davis, and has missed this past semester. While he is now home and beginning to get out a bit more in the community to see family and friends when he is able, he may be in need of additional surgery on his neck.
We are therefore reaching out to the soccer community to assist in whatever way they can. One way in which the soccer community can come to the assistance of Eric Cavalli is to participate in the Eric Cavalli Soccer Tournament.

This is awesome, and so I wish my son could participate-- however, he will be in a soccer tournament in SoCal this weekend. Kudos to the clubs for doing this!!

I adore the Cavalli family and encourage everyone to come out and support this young man and his family as they need it now more than ever.
Thank you BUSC for putting this on.
