Town Square

Niles Canyon Sunday around 4:30????

Original post made by Pat, Vineyard Hills, on May 29, 2011

As I was coming thru niles canyon today about 4:30 pm there was 3 search and rescue units spread out along the creek thru Niles Canyon...there was about 10 people walking along the creek looking towards the water. Then when I got over to the forest ranger/fire station and bigger unit was going in that direction.

Same thing happened this afternoon. Saw Special Resource Unit trucks and Hayward cops. Didn't know what was going on, but most of them were on foot as if they're looking for something.

If you didn't see emergency lights.. it's probably a training exercise.

This article, which just popped up on The Valley Times, explains it. It appears it was related to the search for Michelle Le, the missing nursing student.
