Congrats to the 9 year old baseball team. I'm scratching my head as I read that the BUSC 15 year old soccer club made the semi-finals of their own tourney. On the other hand, given the fact that BUSC is a second tier soccer club I guess they do consider making the semi finals a newsworthy event. Set the bar a little higher boys!

Robert, they needed something to celebrate, even if it was a small victory. Very few of the BUSC teams were successful this past weekend. What gives?

Sally, "Very few of the BUSC teams were successful this past weekend." You said, it, I didn't. BUSC steals these people's money like they are taking candy from a baby and I've yet to see them produce a top tier team, let alone a top tier player. I can accept being excited about a 9 year old team making a semi-final game and the team manager promoting it in the local paper but 15 year olds? Come on!!! Mark my word...NONE of these kids will go on to do anything athletically past high school. BUSC has prided themselves for years on being satisfied with semi-final appearances and they will continue to be seen as a second rate club. That's all that gives...

Robert, it seems as though you must have had a negative experience at some point with BUSC. What happened? You seem very sour on the club. My son played in that tournament last weekend and I can tell you that the brackets in his age group were quite fairly weighted, if that's your concern.

Also, how do you know "NONE of these kids will go on to do anything athletically past high school"? That's an unfair statement, especially if you don't know them or their abilities.

Obviously Robert either has kids who sucked in sports or he got his butt kicked when he was younger. What a sad, miserable human being to sit here and rip on young kids. Get a life.

Sports organizations should not allow registered sex offenders to act as volunteers.

Follow the example of schools, where NO registered sex offender is allowed to be an active volunteer. In fact, they run background checks on all parents who want to be volunteers.

I understand that background checks can be costly, but come on, at least look at the Megan Law database for the list of registerd sex offenders. There are not that many in Pleasanton, so it should be easy to do this and make sure that no registered sex offender can volunteer.
