I just read this today, and I thought it was a joke. Unforunately, it's not. Barbara Bush actually said, on March 18, 2003, on Good Morning America,
"Why should we hear about body bags and death? I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"
This was in reference to the Bush administration's decision to block flag-draped coffins of U. S. soldiers killed in Iraq from being photographed.
Maybe if her granddaughters were fighting in Iraq she would have found it relevant. What a truly horrific statement from the mother of our president, the man who instigated this war.
