Watch out Pete! You're about to be accused of being all sorts of nasty things by open-minded Obaman fans. Must not question authority!

Oh, and since your link is not to ABC, CBS, or NBC it couldn't possibly have any validity.

Since the Pleasanton Weekly began the "TownSquare Forum" feature, I've always been under the impression that the forum would be used to discuss and debate local issues. Instead, I've notice a recent trend of forum users posting daily anti-Obama rants and general right-wing propaganda that sounds like it could have come directly from the mouths of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, or Sean Hannity. Such recent post titles as "Obama the Muslim" have little to do with local issues, and more to do with AM Radio/Fox News conservative talking points being regurgitated on this forum. Many of these posts are completely baseless attacks on Obama and Democrats. They are rife with conservative fear mongering, and founded on rumors and innuendo from extremist websites (Karl Rove style). While I don't necessarily feel that the Pleasanton Weekly should censor these types of posts, I don't think these postings are constructive for our community and reflect only a small percentage of citizens who seem to thrive on fear and divisiveness.

Ron, since you like to repeat yourself, I'll repeat myself as well!

I believe this forum incorporates a section for state, national and international issues, if you would like to look at the categories for the town forum.

Furthermore, here is just one article posted by the Editor that is about Obama. Web Link.

I believe free speech belongs to all of us, including those that disagree with your viewpoint, regardless if it is left or right. The conservatives that post here are honest, but are not hypocritical in saying that another group doesn't have a right to speak out and criticize.

I believe the "left" was adimant about "criticizing the government is patriotic" when Bush was in Office. Hmmm...sounds like they only want it one way. What happened to their mantra about "choice"? Oh, I see, they only want choice for their ideas. Got it.

It didn't take Ron long to find this post. Ron, why are you so afraid of opposing viewpoints? They won't hurt you. Afterall, isn't it patriotic to question authority? Isn't that our duty as U.S. citizens? Questioning the policies of our government does not make one an extremist.

I think you would like to censor these posts and opposing opinions.

Ron,

I found a special Bible verse just for you!

Proverbs 18:2
A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

We should be questioning everything and especially now. The masses of German's stood, watched, and said nothing when Hitler and the Nazi's took power. I am not saying Obama is a Nazi but he certainly is not acting in the best interests of the country but is certainly acting in the best interests of his special interests.

Jessica, why you little hater you. I am not white, have never been to the south, never listen to Limbaugh, and am a registered democrat who voted for Obama. In the future if you are going to insult make sure you are aware of the facts first.

Jessica,

You do an excellent job of illustrating the anger, hatred, and self-loathing of the left. I'm a libertarian. I listen to different opinions and think for myself. Apparently you do neither.

Julie is a registered user.

Ron's post doesn't indicate to me at all that he "fears opposing viewpoints". I think what he is objecting to is what he refers to as the fear mongering, rumours, etc. I'm sure we all agree that there is a difference between stating an opinion and "ranting". There are also varying levels of quality with sources. It's valid to object to those that only present one side of the issue. Not all sources are created equal. I certainly don't consult the Star magazine when I want reliable news. If my kids had to do a research paper on George W. I wouldn't suggest they utilize sources with a Democratic leaning.

I don't agree with the way Jessica expressed herself, but couldn't this:

Proverbs 18:2

A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his (her) own opinions.

apply to all of the anti-Obama posts to which Ron refers? I think it does. And I note that no one took the high road - you all dished back just what Jessica served you.

So what is the point everything on the website is factual or an opinion piece no different than CNN or the New York Times. I guess the libs do not like being on the defensive and the only thing they can do is lash out angrily rather than with facts.

Todays christian are phoney cult followers and that includes you for one and all poster.

We are continually warned in the Bible to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. The cults fall into the category of darkness. Cults are leading people astray into lies, deceit, confusion and ultimately hell. According to our theme verse, we are not even supposed to say, "God bless you" to cult members lest we be partakers of their evil deeds. We can tell cultists about the Lord, but if they don't want to hear and persist in their cult activities, we are to have no fellowship with them. Today's "Christianity" says, "Just love everybody and try to impress them with your life. After all, we all believe the same 'essentials'." The Lord says:

But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
I Corinthians 5:11

In this and other verses, the Bible says to mark those that cause division--not embrace them.

Purpose

This page has multiple purposes:

warn the saints, cult members and potential cult members of false doctrines
equip saints to effectively witness to cult members and sympathizers
equip saints to identify cult members from a few words of conversation
Satan has filled this world with "Christian" cults and wrong doctrines in order to see people cast in hell fire. He (1) deceives the simple and (2) appeals to the prideful who want a "customized" religion that fits in with their belief system. Cults also offer something, "new" which in this world is tantamount to better. But God said, "I change not". So when someone brings me a "new thing" I am wary and really seek the Lord about it.

Witnessing to the Cultist

I've met people from a number of cults and all of them had been brainwashed by their religious leaders. You must be in prayer the whole time you are talking to them, because the spirits that have control over them must be quieted in order for them to hear what you are saying. The cult member has been told the same lies so many times that he believes they are true. He's been told that his group is the only one that has the truth. He has been told that the world considers his group a cult. He has been told that disciples of Jesus had to undergo the same persecution he does. You are talking to a person that thinks they are right.

I am no cultist.

I attend a Protestant community church here in Pleasanton and attended a renown and well-respected Christian university in the US.

Quoting from Proverbs is cultish? I believe Jesus Christ himself quoted Scripture when tempted by Satan. I'm following the Master! :) Nothin' wrong with that! :)

Peace!

Need more private ownership, less government, lower taxes. We need wealth creation and an ownership society. Less regulation of business. I've got to knock off the booze tonight. I could have sworn there were a bunch of religious guys with signs on Main Street tonight. Did anyone else see them? I haven't spent much time in P-town, but I wasn't expecting that.
