I think we should ask the City Coucil / PPD to institute a program where kids that get caught for doing things that need repair to take part in a community clean up program.
There have been several kids in this town, that just I know of, that have been caught by the police doing damage to the elementary schools, etc, and instead of letting them only get a warning, they should be taken to their parents and signed up for community clean up projects. No one appreciates anything they have, including a wonderful community where we care for one another as we do here in Pleasanton - unless they have to work for it.
I'm tired of us parents just either hoping our kids won't get charged with misdemeanor charges or offering to pay up. When kids drive their cars into the parks and destroy the grass, or tag, etc, it costs all of us and there is less money to go toward the real needs of our community.
I hope someone with some level of authority will read this and consider doing something to really teach our kids what character is about. It's a wonderful program at the schools, but let's include real-life examples and real life consequences.

Simple solution: Establish a reward for tips that lead to the arrest of the taggers. Make the taggers (likely their parents) pay the cost to clean up the graffiti x 2, and give the matching funds as the reward to the tipster.
