All are probably worthwhile causes, and in a better economic time some of them are likely justified. But why did we have to do this all RIGNT NOW, in a time when we are all struggling to make ends meet? Do you realize that YOU and I are paying for this? Why now, when so many of us have lost our jobs and when those of us who are lucky enough to still have jobs are trying to save for the future and prepare for the day may come when we don't?
Furthermore, take a look at these projects? Does it make any sense to anyone that we are going to spend $25 million for dredging of Oakland Harbor and nearly $8 million for a Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority bus project, yet the Oakland Police Department is only getting $800,000? Of the three projects, doesn't it make sense that getting more money to the Oakland PD is far more important?
What the hell are we letting our government do to us??? Did anyone really HOPE for this kind of CHANGE?

Yes. I do Hope for this kind of change..
At this time our economy and region needs STIMULUS! Money coming back from Washington into the pay checks of local workers (bus drivers, construction crews, flood plain projects, etc.) I'd even be happy if some of it went to local artists.
- by investing in infrastructure instead of tax rebates that go for consumer imports from China, we get to recycle the money in the Bay area a few times. All those workers pay taxes and buy at local grocery stores.
- turning Oakland (or anywhere) into a police state won't solve its problems. Social programs, education programs and economic investment are needed to repair the problems.
It would be nice to hear your positive suggestions for stimulating the economy.

All this was going to be spent anyway....
Just instead of it being labeled as not enough from George Bush, its being touted as Obama saving the day.
