I rent near downtown and would have loved to buy that hold house. I see people living in it now and it works just fine. I am amazed that I never knew it was available to buy, bet the price was low too.
These old homes are loved by most of us in the downtown. They are valuable to us and almost everyone that lives here.
Ponderosa is just another big business out for their own profit, they don't care about our town.

I would not buy a house from Ponderosa. No way.

Gene, wake up. Most of the old houses look pretty or charming to people that simply drive by, but go inside one of them and they are small, dark, no storage, funky plumbing, drafty and smelly. It takes alot of money to make them liveable and bring them into current codes regulations. But it sounds like the property owner had someone interested and willing to do it. I have lived here for thirty years and like old houses too in the downtown but I still dont think government has a right to require an owner to fix up a old house if they want to sell their land.
