Yea,Dave!!
So glad you are back here in P-Town!!!

The student's families are not the only ones who are grateful. Teachers, Administrators, and Educational Therapists (like me) are quietly doing our own private happy dance back here behind the browser... sooooooo grateful!!

You rock!!

Gratitude:
I'd like to invite others to join me in thanking Workday, and Mr. Duffield, founder of People Sof--which was nearly single handedly responsible for driving up the value of most homes in this valley starting 15 years ago--for gifting our town support for our children being able to say No to pushers. This gift will help mitigate that.

Great act on part of Workday but my opinion is that the DARE program does not work. Drugs are a big problem in Pleasanton and elsewhere. Too bad the PUSD cannot see this. Nor the City. My opinion only because DARE cannot overcome the Peer Pressure "issue" among students. Time and money spent on a program that lacks. A waste. Not a personal attack on those who administer the program or teach it.

Hi Scott,
I appreciate you using your full name. I gather that you have some information at the tips of your fingers here to have such strong opinions (lots of them in such a short paragraph).
To be *helpful* here, or perhaps an op ed,
please explain/educate us...with facts. Maybe some good can come out of what you know. I believe we are all trying to do our best (you, me, Dave, The City,...), even make the best decisions we all can. So, if the Powers That Be missed something that was to lead them to a better, more effective decision, perhaps you can provide it here in black and white.
After defining your terms such as, "not" and "work" as in "does not work," hopefully you can also take some time and effort to provide readers like me with,
Who
What
When
Where
How
because I really don't know the facts that may have gone into a decision, and perhaps I should...perhaps we all should.
Very sincerely and thank you in advance,
Kathryn

* the above may read like I participate in city processes...I don't. I am simply a citizen of this town. When I say, "do our best" I mean, in life.
=D

While I appreciate Scott's feedback, I think it's important to remember that the DARE program can't and should not replace good old fashioned parenting. Both of my kids have participated in DARE. Both received great information from the program. Keeping them on track--especially given the real pressures they face--is our job.

P.S. Thank you to Dave & WorkDay for the wonderful donation. I think we saw the new vehicle at 1st Wednesday and it was very nice.
