Cody Hall in Court Wednesday

Original post made by cyclist too on Aug 13, 2013

Cody Hall will enter a plea on Wed and you can bet it will be "not guilty". Not guilty of murder, a murder that was bound to happen due to his constant speeding and reckless behavior.
Every person who has ever ridden a bike, or walked, or driven in this town needs to contact the District Attorney to let that office know that we are not in favor of any plea bargain to reduce his felonies or his jail time.
This punk is a criminal, an adult who practiced daily for the eventual outcome of his reckless behavior. He must be taken off the streets.

There is a parallel here. A 17-year old driver named David Rosen was speeding down Treat Bl in Concord in 2012 when he lost control of the car, flipped it, and killed a father and daughter on bikes in the process. Witnesses said he was trying to beat a yellow light. He pled guilty and was sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison.

As part of the plea agreement, pending charges against the driver for alcohol and weapons possession were dropped.

Prior to the accident, David Rosen identified himself on various social media sites as "Race Fox."

As a further injustice to the family of the dead father and daughter, the Cadillac Escalade that David was driving was registered to his father, and he insurance had been allowed to expire. Under CA law, the maximum that a surviving family can gain under these circumstances is $30,000. The survivors had to move to a small apartment.

It seems that the DA's office was pretty quick in bringing two felony charges against Cody Hall as soon as they got the full accident investigation report from the Pleasanton Police, so it seems that the case was a "no-brainer" in their view. I can't imagine letting this case go away easily with a plea bargain if I were a public prosecutor. 5 mph over the 40 mph speeding limit might be excusable. 10 mph over the 40 mph limit is starting to push it. 20 mph over the 40 mph limit is getting really dangerous and reckless. But 43 mph over the 40 mph limit? I don't know what adjectives to use to describe that. I think that the DA is going to come down hard on this case.

I agree with Cyclist Too. Here is the DA's email address:

I sincerely hope the DA doesn't cut a deal with him or his loser father. I also think both the punk kid and felon father should be forced to wear ankle tracking devices and should be kept from seeing or living with each other until both cases are resolved. Felon father + future felon = nothing good
