If you think Black Ave is anything of a racetrack try being on First St. Bad enough that the cut-throughs think they own it but the traffic manager sets up the lights to make it nearly impossible to get across First St at any intersection. Walking or driving. The lights for the cut-throughs are always green, the cross traffic waits forever for a 15 second green light. The left turn lane north of Neal is for the residents to be able to get into our out of their driveways. The cut-throughs use it as a passing lane. Hello PPD, cite a few of those OK?
I can agree with the above calming ideas right up until telling the Post Office not to use their own building. Why should the desire of a few Black Ave residents means that the rest of us downtown would lose the use of our post office? Get serious city council or get voted out.

All for this idea. I would like to see round-abouts on both sides of Valley Trails as well. Pleasanton's "brand" is a family friendly-town, but a few jerks who don't think speed laws apply to them endanger our children's lives. It's great to have more police patrols with the intention of catching and citing these folks, but traffic calming physical structures like roundabouts and speed bumps are more effective.

$405k for lowering existing signs, painting the road and installing per-fabricated speed bumps? Pretty sweet contract for someone...
How about park a cop there during busy hours until people get the message? Drive in that area of town fairly frequently and can't remember the last time there was any sort of crackdown. Plus, it is much cheaper and doesn't empower other NIMBYs to complain until the entire town is filled with $400,000 speed bumps.
