During the strike:
How would I take the bus to Downtown Oakland from the Pleasanton BART?

Wondering - There are two main transit options to reach downtown Oakland from (East) Dublin/Pleasanton BART during the strike. Both will take a long time, but they're the best transit options. (Better would be if you could find a carpool.)

(Alternative 1) Take the special free Wheels bus from Pleasanton BART to Eastmont Transit Center in Oakland (5-8 a.m.). Then take AC Transit No. 40 bus to downtown Oakland (a 40 minute trip). (The transbay NL and NX3 buses apparently do not accept local passengers between Eastmont and downtown Oakland.) Make sure that you're at Eastmont Transit Center well before 6:15 p.m. when the last Wheels bus to Pleasanton apparently leaves. (Bear in mind that Eastmont is in east Oakland and that you might be there during non-daylight hours and possibly could be stranded there.)

(Alternative 2) Take a BART charter bus from Pleasanton (5 - 8 a.m. weekdays, later hours on weekends) to San Francisco. Walk a block or two to the Temporary Transbay Terminal and take any AC Transit transbay bus to downtown Oakland. In the evening, it's my understanding that all BART charter buses pass through West Oakland BART. Take an AC Transit #26 or #31 bus from downtown Oakland to West Oakland. Use your charter bus ticket at West Oakland to board a Dublin/Pleasanton bus. (Just don't mention how you arrived at West Oakland.)
