With election season right around the corner, the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidates Forum starting at 7:30 a.m. today for those seeking election as mayor of Pleasanton and to the City Council.
The free event will be held in the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Pleasanton.
Brad Hirst, a 44-year resident of Pleasanton and owner of Equity Enterprises, will serve as moderator.
Scott Raty, president and CEO of the Pleasanton Chamber, said the candidates will face questions about community priorities, including transportation, workforce housing and unfunded pension liabilities. They will also be asked about efforts they would support to help businesses in Pleasanton.
Current council members Jerry Thorne and Cheryl Cook-Kallio are competing to succeed Jennifer Hosterman, who will term-out as mayor after an eight-year run. Karla Brown, Erlene DeMarcus, Mike Harris and Jerry Pentin are running for the two open seats on the council.
For more information about the forum, sign on to the Chamber’s website at www.pleasanton.org or call Susie Weiss, the chamber’s manager of communications and special events at 846.5858, ext. 201.
Does anyone know anything about the candidates running for the two open seats on Council? I am not familiar with any of the four candidates.
Will it be televised? If so, will it be reaired??
Michele, we have a very wide range in diversity of candidates, calling for a need to look below the obvious….and most of all at special interest supporters, such as public unions and extreme greens.
Thank you for wanted to be an informed voter.
Of course, any voter should always be fully informed, or skip that vote…candidate or issue.
I heard that Erlene DeMarcus was paid to work for James Tong and the Lin Family during the Oak Grove fiasco time. That was the guy that sued everyone in town, including my friend Kay Ayala.
If that developer is paying for her to put those big signs all over town, I want her OUT. Disgraceful and ugly!
