Town Square

What have the police decided about the shootings?

Original post made by No resolution?, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Jun 10, 2012

It's been over a month, and I'm finding it very hard to believe that the Pleasanton Police have not had a definitive answer to this case. What has happened? Has there been a service or farewell allowed? Are things still in limbo? Is outside assistance required?

They used to call the Pinkertons in on cases like these where susplicions of union invovlement did'nt pass the smell test. But now the state takes over and there in the union bosses pockets. We'll never find out the real story. Has Hoffa's body ever been found? I rest my case.

The utmost of care is exercised investigating anything involving use of deadly force by a police officer anywhere in California. It is necessary to anticipate and examine in advance any angle of the incident that the group of attorneys who specialize in lawsuits against police/municipalities might pursue. The police have to answer any questions about the shooting that common sense might dictate and also any creative tactic that this group might bring up. Look at the Rider's Trial in Oakland or the OJ trial. The police must anticipate the lawyers angles of enquiry and answer them before the attorneys can ask them to mitigate the damages that the city will doubtless have to pay, no matter how valid the shooting may turn out to be.

Processing of physical evidence, collecting testimony, investigating the witnesses, reinterviewing witnesses as new bits of evidence are uncovered over and over again. Waiting for the crimelab to process the evidence then going back and asking them to examine evidence in light of issues that might have arisen from testimony or the first processing of the evidence, etc. Then putting it all together into a coherant report takes months. It isn't like TV at all. Before computers became so ubiqutous, seven to twelve large 3 ring binders were the norm.

Call me crazy, but Jeff seems to be ensinuating that the shooting may have been done by the (union) cops. Well, does that not represent a fine keddle of fish!

Nonetheless, why are we seeing zero reporting on this? What are the basic facts, for heavens sake?

The police will tell you when it is justified. You are on a need to know basis...and you don't need to know. I would also hope the police will use every resource possible to protect their own when a shooting does occur. They are the only ones they can count on...based on the above comments they cannot count on public support....can't have it both ways people.

Thanks Truth.

We need to tell it like it is. Too much democracy, not enough police state. Can't trust the court system. Can't trust the jurors. Can't trust the people. We need to put areselves in the hands of the police.

C'mon... what gives here? Is this a true cover-up on the part of the Pleasanton Police? Are they just trying to bury the story (along with the Pleasanton Weekly and the other local newspaper that has a second name that rhymes with "Hatch"?? A young girl and a young mother are gone, and the rest of the community is supposed to just forget that this ever happened??

What is wrong with folks, allowing things to just be brushed under the rug? This is not normal or right!

Everyone is still waiting on lab results. Unlike what you see on "NCIS" and "CSI," real labs are backed up and results aren't immediately available.

Abby doesn't live here.

Gina, aren't steven and mittens the same poop-disturbers ?? Can't they be stopped. These trolls or phonies have pretty much ended Town Square, How sad . .it was good for so many aids and info. They are such cowards they can't risk any sharing in this election season.

I really don't like Mr. Mittens. His reasoned arguments only intend to be. Where I come from, the state would interseed and remove him from his pedestool.

Thank you, Gina, for directing Glenn to follow up on the story. I have no idea who "Abby" is, though, and what relationship she has to this case. I must be "clueless", but trust that you are firmly in the know on these matters.
