Real Estate Agent requests

If you are using a certain downtown realtor then he might suggest that. Of course, one beautiful home in Pleasanton sat on the market as his listing for over two years so that would have been horrible for the sellers. When they finally wised up to his inability to sell, they listed with someone else and sold within 30 days.
Get references! It has nothing to do with what is reasonable or affordable. It has everything to do with the 6% commission.

I had this horrible experience as well with a Pleasanton Prudential Realtor (not downtown). She basically wanted to come in and have all of her "preferred associates" do useless things like paint designer colors on the walls and bring in staging furniture. I started to think she must be getting kick backs or maybe free services of her own from her "preferred associates". By you moving out it makes it easy for agents to have the place shown at anytime. These practices are completely for their own personal gain and convenience. My suggestion is that you find a Realtor who's first priority is servicing and representing your family's needs. Good Luck. It's still rough out there, even in this market, finding good honest agents, brokers and lenders.
