It is always so refreshing to read about Culianry Tourism that is occuring in destinations globally.
So many destinations feel they simply "have it" and therefore do not need to promote this because "everyone knows we have great cuisine" well news for those places-potential new visitors do not know and destinations in this current economic climate cannot rest on their laurels!
The whole world is your competition and it seems the Tri-Valley have recognised this-so congrats to you.
I first became aware of Culianry Tourism after hearing Erik Wolf speak here in Australia a few years ago. He is president/CEO of the International Culinary Tourism Association and as of yet I have not heard anyone speak with the passion that he has-but I have researched/read and attended all events I have been able to since then.
I have also just completed my CCTP certification [Certified Culinary Tourism Professional Cert] which has also given me the heads up on so much in this nich of tourism that really should be at the heart of any destinations promotion; to quote Erik Wolf, "every one of your visitors will eat and drink at least once a day-what an excellent opportuntiy to share culture and educate visitors?"
Its a shame I dont have a buisness trip that coincides with your luncheon but I hope it goes really well!
Oh, talking of Culinary Tourism events, dont forget the Culinary Tourism Global Summit that is being held in Halifax later this year.
