Town Square

Prop 8 -what are they saying at your church?

Original post made by Curious George, another community, on Oct 26, 2008

I am curious what different churches in the P-town community are saying or not about the Prop 8 debate? In the Mercury News, churches in San Jose area are running full page ads of No on 8. The news tonight interviewed a Catholic Oakland parish which was largely a voting YES congregation. What is your church saying?

If I were a church.. and, I'm not... I'd preach the sanctity of marriage without mentioning a political proposition.

Marriage is the blessed union of a man and a woman for the purpose of creating and supporting a family.

unclehomerr..
..that's what I'd say. You betcha!!

I support PEOPLE. I don't care if they can produce children between each other. We have many children in this world that need a home and many people in this world ready to take them in with open hands. That is the most important thing. HAPPINESS. Not judgment. Not one person in this world is perfect. We are all different in many ways. Embrace difference. Respect it. Move on with your life. Should you die tomorrow be sure you have LIVED, LAUGHED and LOVED to all you could, regardless of our choices in life.

I agree with Jen, embrace difference, vote yes on 8. We are all different in many ways. Respect it. Move on with your life. Peace be with us all.

PJ - don't you mean "discriminate against differences" if you are voting yes on 8?

Homeowner,

Cute. No, see that's what you'd LIKE to believe to justify your position. You can't understand any different.

PJ - What are you afraid of if Proposition 8 doesn't pass?

And you have no idea what I can or can't understand, thank you.

Homeowner- What are you afraid of if Proposition 8 does pass?

And you shouldn't try to put your words in someone else's mouth, thank you.
