Easy answer. STAR testing evaluates how the school is doing, not necessarily the student. Seems the schools are more interested in their ranking over the success of the students.

And even if the STAR exam WAS longer than the typical final exam, it would still be a matter of unions somehow trying to gum things up for students so that, perhaps, the teachers get some of those snacks. It's an evil world we live in, brought to us by unions.

Cholo! The new voice of reason! Water and snacks? Are you kidding me? We're trying to prepare our children for the real world, and we're complaining about water and snacks during school exams?
If this issue is on the collective radar screen of the people of Pleasanton, perhaps we should just say "Thank you."

The point was that THE SCHOOLS have admistrators standing outside with cases of water to hand out during STAR testing. They don't do that during finals. No one is saying they should provide water but they do.

You see people, it's just like I've always said--Pleasanton Schools are just the latest in the encroaching nanny state that the libs want to use to entrap our impressionable youth into becoming takers!

My students haven't gotten snacks during STAR testing since elementary school, and they definitely didn't have finals then. Are your kids still 6 or what?

Maybe because it is the parent's job to provide food and water for the kids, not the school? If you are concerned your kid isn't getting "snacks" at school for Finals, then send your kid to school with their own snacks. This is such a stupid thread to even start!
