Fremont Developer John Wong Purchased Scott Haggerty's Livermore House
Around Town, posted by Toxic Conflict of Interest, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Dec 28, 2012 at 2:25 am

The San Francisco Chronicle reported last week that when County Supervisor Scott Haggerty could not sell his house, John Wong (associated with developer James Tong) purchased Scott Haggerty's house in Livermore for him. This is detailed in the Chronicle's story here

- Web Link

What isn't mentioned in the story is that this purchase in January 2007 was just after the Board of Supervisors approved a boundary shift to have East Dublin put in Haggerty's district. After Wong purchased Haggerty's Livermore house, Haggerty and Dublin Vice Mayor Kasie Hildenbrand co-purchased a Dublin residence together so that the two could move in together according to the Oakland Tribune Web Link

Not to mention this was when suddenly Fremont Developer John Wong expressed interest in building a strip shopping center on Staples Ranch, that Hosterman gushed in Pleasanton city council meetings she would personally nominate to win some sort of architecture award.

Strange that I can't find the John Wong purchase of Scott Haggerty's house in Livermore detailed in the property listings section of housing purchases in January or February 2007 back issues of the Pleasanton Weekly. Why did the Pleasanton Weekly not disclose this?

Dear Toxic,

As a realtor i can tell you it is pretty clear; the PW uses the MLS as its data source and this transaction did not go through the regular channels of a sale. It appears this transaction went through without really marketing the house to the general public. Back room deal? I don't know for sure, but it sure looks suspicious.

Why are you opposed to graft and corruption? Isn't that what they are elected to do - enrich themselves and their cronies? At least he isn't a crackhead like Lockyer or a shoplifter like Hayashi! I wish all our elected officials could graft like Haggerty!
