Pleasanton-Dublin link opens under I-580
Around Town, posted by Editor, Pleasanton Weekly Online, on Nov 6, 2012 at 9:19 pm

Bikers and hikers will no longer be blocked by Interstate 580 when traveling between Pleasanton and Dublin. The new Alamo Canal Trail link under the freeway was opened last Saturday, connecting the Centennial Trail in Pleasanton with the Alamo Canal Trail that ended just north of I-580 near the Dublin Library.

This is an awesome additional for bicyclists who have to contend with crazy vehicles who take no notice of them. I follow all bike laws and have still almost been run down by a clown who didn't realize he was speeding...IN A BIKE LANE!!!!!!!!! AT NIGHT!!!! Need I say more??? Thank you fellow tax payers. Now we need to pass a small tax on Pleasanton residents so they can pave the entire path. How enjoyable and non-bumpy that would be on my butt and jaw.

Don't tax residents for your bike wants. Get your biker friends together and raise the money for it yourselves. This country is full of too many people standing around looking for a freebie. Take initiative, not hand outs.

The government already takes over 1/3 of my income in taxes. I refuse to pay more. Eliminate waste spending and special interests.

The Bikers sure seem to enjoy Cafes & Dining along the way in Danville & Walnut Creek. This connection may help, when they plan their trips; to get them more easily into Beautiful Historic Downtown Pleasanton. Gary Schwaegerle

Hey Al, Would you like to do that kind of direct funding for the roads you drive on, too? How about for the firefighters. If your house catches on fire, you just pay them on the spot? I mean, really, roads and fire and police protection, clean water and safe air travel are all just a freebie handout, aren't they?
