I think that is a compliment for Jerry Thorne. It is time for new leadership with a conservative bias towards spending our hard eaned taxpayer's money. Won't it be nice to focus on local issues, not world peace?

All this talk about follow the money, unions, development, Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, so I looked. It is not an easy site to go through and it took me some effort. I looked at all the candidates. THEN I looked and independent expenditures to find that the THORNE campaign had an independent expenditure from something called the California Real Estate Independent Expenditure PAC out of Los Angeles to the tune of $23,000! I looked further and found that this is the state organization that BayEast Realtors belong to. $23,000!!
From what I can tell virtually all of his money has come from business or development money. Check it out. It is on the City of Pleasanton's Website.

Dear "I checked the filings",
So what's wrong with some business and development in Pleasanton? The unions are financing Cook-Kallio. Would you rather have some business and development in Pleasanton, or do you prefer having larger and larger percentages of our budget going to retired union members who provide no business, no development and no services to our community? If you want to send our taxpayer dollars to unions, where it does nothing for the taxpayers, go ahead a vote for Cook-Kallio. I would rather have a mayor who will work for me, so I am voting for Thorne.

This is supposed to be news?
This is one left-wing loon endorsing another left-wing loon.
This is one union troll supporting another union troll.
A vote for Crook-Kallio is a vote for your tax money going to support the lavish compensation and pensions for city workers, and for keeping non-union businesses out of town.
A vote for Cook-Kallio is a vote to once again have a Mayor that is more interested in higher political office than the City of Pleasanon, as we have had with the Hippy Mayor.

The Committee to elect Jerry Thorne Mayor 2012 that Thorne controls--in other words he decides on accepting contributions as well as how the funds are spent, has received $33,239 and spent $39,825 through today for the year 2012. Jerry makes the decisions on how the money is spent such as yard signs, ads, mail, etc.
The candidate has NO control if a person or organization decides to do independent expenditures either on behalf or against him. They can simply form a committee and get an FPPC (Fair Political Practices Committee)number and get started. With regard to the $23,000 that's being reportedly spent on behalf of Thorne, we found out about this by reading one of the above posts and were DUMBFOUNDED. Jerry and I have absolutely no knowledge of a poll let alone any results so he has not benefited from this expenditure. Further, we have not seen, nor are aware of any ads that were not done and paid for by his Committee. (Its also worth noting that while Jerry is endorsed by the Chamber BACPAC, we are not aware of any of expenditures made on his behalf.)
Contributors to Jerry's campaign are numerous and mostly from Pleasanton residents and businesses.
As an example of an independent expenditure, I received a post card mailer from the PLS/Livermore Fire Fighters Union supporting his opponent that indicated it was paid for by the union. This mailer would have cost somewhere around $10,000 based on my experience. What's interesting about this independent expenditure is that it did NOT contain an FPPC number and I was not able to find any filing for its contributions or expenditures. I don't understand why they don't have to obtain an FPPC number and file the appropriate paper work!
But the point here is that the Thorne campaign is NOT aware of any benefit to the campaign from this independent expenditure. And if we're going to talk about independent expenditures, the firefighter's union independent mailer needs to be part of the discussion, as well as why they are not subjected to the same rules as other groups.
If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me at jandknarum@att.net.

I agree. Never vote for anyone Hosterman endorses.
I got yet another mailer from Cook-Kallio again with a bunch of out of area party Dems 'endorsing' her including the Teamsters union and about every Union one can think of.
There was also a list of regular residents but most appeared out of town. I only recognized 12 from the list from being actual Pleasanton residents. Most look like Fremont residents.

Thorne would love to have all those endorsements since many of them endorsed him in the last election. They weren't offered to him or when he asked people said no.

Cook-Kallio is endorsed by the Teamsters union.
According to this Web Link , Cook-Kallio is endorsed by Pete Stark, Tong/Lin consultant Tom Pico, and elected politicos from the democratic party of Fremont and Union City.
Doubt Thorne would be calling people in other cities to endorse him. Seems to have plenty of Pleasanton residents.

Interesting that Cheryl seems to have removed any mention of Pete Stark on her web site as well as he's not listed on the latest mailer I received from her.

Unions, Unions, Unions and Thorne owned by rich old white guys who throw him $20,000 fundraising party in Castlewood, $23,000 IE by SoCal Real Estate PAC. Ya think he ain't owned by somebody. Until you take money out of their hands you will get this garbage. Really, do we need multiple candidate signs for one candidate at specific locations? One sign per candidate would suffice. Lastly does the Election Cycle need to last so long. One month should let people know who they want.

HMM, see my post above--Thorne has NO control over what other people do INDEPENDENT of his campaign. Let's talk about the facts and issues not innuendos!!
This is no different than the mailer that was independently done by the fire fighter's union on behalf of jerry's oponent. And by the way, we haven't been able to find where they've filed the appropriate paperwork for the independent expenditure.

Greetings, all!
I did find the paperwork for the firefighter's union posted under the candidate's listing. It was a paper filing rather than electronic. Candidates in Pleasanton file their financial reports electronically.
On Thursday, Nov. 1st, an independent expenditure report was filed showing an expenditure by the firefighter's union of $1,440.18 for a mailer (wow, that's cheap!).
Interested folks can look at all the financial reports for elections in Pleasanton through the Campaign Report E-Filing Public Portal here:

KathyNary,
You are a treasurer and don't know that FPPC numbers are not required to be on any mailings? The only requirement by state law for any mailings is the committee name and address.
Don't guess how much the fire mailing cost. It is all there in the reports...arithmetic, not $10k.
Since you are disclosing what you know, who paid for the plane?

If I have to read one more form letter / editorial printed in the PW about CCK "connections" in Sacramento, I'm going to puke! Taking the play right out of the Pete Stark Handbook, and it isn't going to work, nobody is fooled.

Thank goodness they days of the mandated 5-0 votes are over.
Jennifer Hosterman says: "On the dais, I find Cheryl to be the more thoughtful in her approach to the issues. Cheryl listens carefully to the public, asks clear and concise questions of staff, entertains meaningful discussion with her fellow council members, and renders her decision only after going through a full analysis of the issue."
I disagree completely. I saw the interview with Daniel Borenstein posted on the Tri-Valley Herald website. CookKallio talked for 59 minutes of the 68 minutes of video (didn't listen carefully at all) rambled most of the time, some times not making any sense, and was corrected by Borenstein.
CookKallio claimed in that entertaining video that her qualifications were:
1. She doesn't want anyone on "her" council to vote anything other than 5-0 because who have to "go along to get along" (Borenstein's words) in order to get anything done. Borenstein asked so that means no one can vote their conscience?
[What is she running for -- House Majority Whip or something? Gee whiz.]
2. She has the phone numbers of democrats.
[Wow, I am so IMPRESSED? You must have gone to many fundraisers and cocktail parties with the democrats.]
3. That she is such a big shot outside of Pleasanton, that anyone who is anyone in the democratic party outside of Pleasanton will take her calls.
[Perhaps CookKallio should be taking Pleasanton residents' calls instead??? Nope, apparently the voters are the underlings. Party bosses are who are important]
4. She so much power she can pick up her phone and can either twitter or text changes to State legislation directly to her democratic cronies at a minutes notice.
[So much for that full analysis BS from Hosterman. Very scary- city council member believes government should create laws by ad hoc, random twitter and text messages. Guess those democratic fund raisers and cocktail parties generate many tweets and texts to Sacramento.]
