PUSD footing the bill for WASC at the Rose Hotel? Schools & Kids, posted by Hmmmm..., a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Oct 26, 2012 at 10:42 pm
Representatives from WASC visited Amador this week, and apparently they stayed at The Rose Hotel. I'm assuming that the district picked up the tab. Does anyone else think that it is unnecessarily excessive given the state of our budget? It seems that a moderately priced hotel would have been more appropriate.

Here is the fee sheet for WASC: Web Link It's not clear the hotel fees are additional. I would suggest a call to the school or district for a definitive answer.
These accreditations are important; certainly far more important than Blue Ribbon Schools and Distinguished Schools awards.

I get so tired of hearing about the importannce of all these accreditions. Do we have to do them all? No. I am longing to see national standards for all schools in america, and the schools rank will be based on where they fall on the mational standards scale. That way you are comparing applea to apples and you can determine when moving if your new schools match up with your prior school.
I do not believe the district should be fooring the bill for the Rose hotel.

There are a lot of great things the PUSD does. It would be nice to see some attention focused there every once in a while. All this complaining......boring. Just try being positive, see how it feels.

I would like to know who was billed for lodging. Anybody know? I understand the committee occupied 8 rooms. The Rose Hotel seems a bit extravagant if the school district is responsible. That would add up to a big tab no matter who is footing the bill.

Well, if walking distance was a consideration (to save driving or bussing or time), then The Rose would be the only option, as the district office is also downtown (basically).
Otherwise, yes, they should have spent money on one another like THEY spend money on the kids (not how us parents are asked to donate money for our kid's FAPE).
