Local Campaign Finances
Around Town, posted by Resident, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Oct 9, 2012 at 7:41 pm

The City has an electronic system for reporting campaign finances on the city website. I found it quite interesting to look at DeMarcus' donations. 96 donations but 62 were from outside of Pleasanton. $7,125 from James Tong (the developer) and family and his business (has $1,000 from Landmark Exchange Management which is owned by Tong). Then thousands of additional dollars in donations from Tong's and Lin's business associates in Fremont and Hillsborough. Seventeen $1,000 donations. Not really a surprise I guess since DeMarcus works for Tong. They are really pushing to get her on council to stop the council from fighting the frivolous lawsuits that Tong/Lin keep filing so they can get their housing approved. One only needs to look at Dublin to see what they want to do in Pleasanton. A lot of that high-density housing in Dublin was done by Tong.

Nothing wrong or illegal here

Nope, nothing illegal, but very interesting to know who is paying for our politicians. I'll have to look the rest up. I guess the ones who have contributions from community members will be most representatives and ones with union and developer money - well you know who they will represent!

You are right, nothing illegal here (that I know of). However, it is important that people see where the money is actually comming from for our local candidates.

Here is the URL: Web Link

If you forget it, to the the city's website, hover over the Government menu, and you will see a menu for Campaign Reports (then choose Public Access Portal). Once in there, the easiest thing to do is go to the bottom of the screen and click on the plus sign to the left of "11/06/2012 General Election" and then click "Candidates".

You can see the Independent Expenditures for the Chamber of Commerce for the money they are giving. Quite interesting that the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce is spending ALL of their money on businesses in Southern California to promote their local candidates. No money spent on Pleasanton Businesses. The Chamber does not support their local businesses. That is sad that our local Chamber of Commerce does not support Pleasanton business.

De marcos is running a city office, Has any other person walked by her house! A home business has turned into a trashed front yard. I am a voter, and in the comunity 29+ years, every time i go by I cringe.

If Arlene is beholden to James Tong, the other developers won't stand a chance. She is bought off by the Chamber of Commerce, the city unions and now by a developer. She is a disgrace to Pleasanton.

What I can't understand us why this is not being reported by the newspapers. Can anyone tell me why campaign finance is not in the papers?

Wasn't James Tong the developer that proposed the 21 story huge condominium complex in Dublin with Erlene Demarcus as a consultant? What was it called - Grofton or Grafton or something like that?

Is this the same James Tong that has constructed all of the condos east of Tassajara in Dublin and are now building on the hills heading toward Livermore?
