Plans for Debates Between Pete Stark and Eric Swalwell?

Original post made by Dave on Sep 4, 2012

Hopefully people will react to Pete Stark's current position on debating Eric Swalwell. Congressman Stark says he will not debate his opponent, Eric Swalwell, because he will be asked "stupid" questions. (SF Chronicle and ABC 7 News, 7.3.12)
The real reason is that Pete Stark himself looked and sounded "stupid" in the only time that he debated Eric Swalwell.
Check the debate on this site; Web Link
I would encourage all voters to sign the petition requesting Pete Stark to debate Eric Swalwell.

There is a reason that no major newspaper has endorsed Pete Stark.

Excuse me Dave...the Livermore Independent, according to Pete Stark's endorsements, supports Congressman Stark. The Independent has been the "major" informational tool, for our Valley, since the 60's. So you see Dave..."There is a reason that no major newspaper has endorsed Pete Stark" is not true. Instead of presenting a blog spot of misinformation... present your case to the Independent...I for one...would be interested to know as well.

For Pete.
Guess our definition of "major" differs. However, I did react to the Independent's endorsement for this shady politician and never received any explanation for their surprising endorsement for a person that has exhibited such dishonesty, and has spouted outright lies. Have you bothered to view the one debate that he did participate in?
Fortunately, major newspapers such as the San Francisco Chronicle, Contra Costa Times and the Hayward Daily Review endorsed somebody else for Congress

Wasn"t bothered from viewing debate some time ago. A possible alternative for any public confidence, that may of been lost, through the debate, could be made up accordingly. This Valley is a mecca for the best highschool debate teams, from within the entire United States of America. We have a candidate, offering her public service, as the next Mayor of Pleasanton, with expertise in the debating format. Leadership takes many forms... intuitiveness another, community of shared interests another. Still having faith in the media, as professionals...democracy depends on it. So...who's call is it?

It's no wonder not even the dems, want anything to do with this guy. His arrogant and abrasive demeanor is unprofessional and he does not represent the voters of this area. He gives the appearance that he's entitled to his position. Hopefully, he'll have an early retirement in November, when he can pack up the rest of his things and head back to Maryland.

The two actually have debated twice. The first time was hosted by the Hayward Demos at some small church in Hayward. Swalwell didn't fair so well at that one.

For Yeeeea

I believe the "debate" you referred to was actually back in April, long before the primary election.

Since the primaries, Stark has refused to debate his opponent. His refusal speaks volumes for his disregard to his constituents. Again, he has demonstrated his total arrogance and belief that he is "entitled" to represent us. His track record for the last decade is a dismal one, lacking in honesty and concern for his constituents

I want an honest, competent, and principled 'Congressman'...NOT a crooked, absent, union-owned "debater".. Debate skills have little to do with principles or character.
