They might want to rebrand this in light of the Eric Holder debacle. At first mention, this sounds like a gun show, not a race.

As both a participant and volunteer at this year's Fast & Furious Festival to raise awareness and research money for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) I was very pleased with the event organization and day long entertainment. Our day was filled with running races for my wife and me in the morning, fun runs for our kids a little later in the morning, and then time for the kids in the Kid's Zone with bouncy houses, BMX stunt show, and game mobile. We then had lunch downtown while listening to the free bands and watching the bike racing. My kids then were able to participate in their own bike race getting their very own finisher's medal.

As a volunteer, I was able to get up close to the action of the bike racing seeing some of the top racers from the area compete right in the middle of downtown Pleasanton. As a former bike racer, I know it is a rare treat to get to race in a downtown location in front of large crowds. Most amateur races occur in non-descript office parks or warehouse districts.

I went home last night tired and humbled by the generosity and support the residents of Pleasanton showed by coming out and participating in the events and helping raise money for ALS.

I hope Pleasanton and Pleasantonians continue to support this fantastic event and cause for many more years to come.
