Mall incidents in Pleasanton, Walnut Creek may be related Crimes & Incidents, posted by Editor, Pleasanton Weekly Online, on Jul 13, 2012 at 3:25 pm
Police are investigating whether a robbery using a knife at the Broadway Plaza parking garage in Walnut Creek on Wednesday is related to an incident at Stoneridge Shopping Center last Friday when two teenage girls tried to grab a woman's purse and shopping bag.

People should start telling Stoneridge merchants that they are going to quit shopping there unless they have better security. The Stoneridge parking lot crime is getting way out of hand.

I think placing security cameras on every single light pole in the mall parking lot is an excellent idea. That, and step up private security and give them more leeway to do what they are paid to do. Now, if we cut our overpaid and overrated public police force, say, by half, and resort instead to security cameras and private security forces (and I'm not talking about overweight oldsters with bum knees driving little golf carts around), think how that will stimulate the economy. I'll have our economy back humming the way it should in no time!

Wow I give that woman credit. She wasn't about to give in to the pressure of someone beating on her. The criminals sound kinda small, so perhaps they were trying to do a copy cat crime. On the other hand, if they were carrying a weapon, I suggest you give in and give it up. It's not worth your life ~ If everyone looks out for each other when they are at the mall, bank parking lots....it will help. Perhaps it's time to start more neighborhood watches. Be aware, be vigilant and have your camera phones ready, oh yeah and carry a big stick ~ Nothing wrong with defending yourself.

What is wrong with the PW trolls today? Seven posts and NOBODY has yet to blame Obama, BART, liberal tolerance for criminals, ghetto crime coming to the suburbs yet?
I'm disappointed I just might have to go & listen to talk radio for a while.

At least Stoneridge has some cameras working. Remember the story of the women who left her babies in the parking lot to shop at Nordstroms? The cameras showed she had been inside shopping over 45 minutes.
In March at the Hacienda Crossing/Regal Cinema lot in Dublin my SUV had the rear passenger window smashed and a computer grabbed from under the seat (yeah - my stupid) in broad day light. The mall security was friendly and said it happens enough that they weren't surprised. The friendly police officer gave me a postcard to indicate he had stopped by. What surprised me was that there are no cameras for that whole Hacienda Crossing parking lot! Talk about "buyer beware."
The officer said that police believe that a common smash and grab strategy is to drive back and forth on freeways looking for malls with quick access so they can be miles away before the theft is discovered. Even medium intelligence thieves know that BART has cameras recording at the stations so that is not a preferred exit route.

The Walnut Creek thieves are described differently than the Pleasanton Stoneridge Mall attempted theft. In Pleasanton they were two 15 year olds at 110 pounds, and Walnut Creek there were two 22 ish and 5'6" or so ~ Both groups women and both groups black with additional people in their get away cars. Just bullies / criminals looking to make a quick and easy buck with all brawn and no brains ~
Keep your cell phones IN HAND ready when you are in shopping Parking Lots, because a license plate will help to crack these cases as well as a defensive weapon for yourself. Stun gun anyone? Or perhaps Pepper Spray/Bear Spray ~ Let's ban together so criminals don't start using our parking lots like Their shopping mall.

KW, I could not agree with you more. There are are many fools (mostly jealous liberals, who either want what you have or demand you give it away to their loser friends) who want nothing else than to ruin a good thing that they, in their infinite wisdom, deem to be a requirement for all. This, regardless as to whether these ingrates are willing to save and sacrifice to earn their way into the community.
It's the worst outcome of social engineering, but that's what the voters in our state have allowed....wait until their cities become ghettoized, like they are trying to do here.

Dear KW and Ruin It For All,
Your posts brought tears to my eyes. And I almost ... well, let's put it this way, when I finally stopped laughing I had to empty retroactively my wet and heavy happy magic underpants.
Its time we realize that Obama, and the BART riders, and the people in Oakland (who you'll not find in Utah, by the way, except for Karl Malone), and the envious loser ingrate liberals are not Americans. Obama's foreign policy is the most foreign we've ever had; and his government is oh-so-foreign with muslims and socialists and terrorists prowling its corridors.
I find it undignifying that these envious loser ingrate liberals, backed by a nonAmerican president, would want to look at my tax returns. John McCain saw them, and he picked Sarah Palin as his running mate not because of my tax returns, for goodness sake, but because Sarah was the best candidate.

I find it undignifying that these envious loser ingrate liberals, backed by a nonAmerican president, would want to look at my college transcripts and other items that I claimed would be transparent to all. After all, I'm above those clowns, unless I need them to vote for me, in which case I'll pander like the sanke oil saleman my daddy was (so they say)
Good thing I have Joe Biteme beside me to run the country, should anything happen to me.... you know those small businessmen are really angry now that I told them the govt is responsbile for their business success and that their hard work and great ideas mean nothing without the nanny state having provided for them.

Yes, we need to make this about Obama's college transcripts! After all, every president in history has revealed their college transcripts. That's how we knew George Bush was a solid A student at all the schools he went to. (Heh-heh-heh) That's how we knew Dick Cheney flunked out of Ivy League schools twice, for cripe sakes, before settling for the academic slum of Univ of Wyoming as his avoid-the-draft strategem.
Now, we also know that there isn't a president or presidential candidate in history who has revealed as many tax returns as I have. My father didn't; Obama hasn't (because 12 does not = 1 ... get it??? Heh-heh-heh.)
Since I'm running on my laurels as a businessman, it is terribly unfair to demand that I show to the American people my tax returns. Wealthy guys like me don't have to respond to our employees; we just fire them. I have to tell you, I'm on the verge of firing the American public. How dare they buck the chain of command!?
As for my opponent. Why ask for my tax returns when he won't even produced his birth certificate? We need a businessman in the White House who is a real American.
