Sharks ice facility clears a hurdle
Sports, posted by Editor, Pleasanton Weekly Online, on Sep 24, 2008 at 9:07 pm

A multi-million-dollar regional ice skating rink planned by a subsidiary of the San Jose Sharks in Pleasanton's new Staples Ranch park could be up and running within two years following the City Council's unanimous approval Tuesday to move forward on the project.

Clearly the ice rink project is a positive development for the city and an overwhelming majority wants it to move forward. Why are we still listening to one city council member and a handful of people who oppose it? Get going on it already!!

I wonder if the reason why residents might be opposing it has to do with traffic being able to use surface streets to get to Livermore opposed to having to take the freeway. I'm not sure if Stoneridge or West Las Positas will end up being through streets but if so, it could cause some ugly traffic during commute time.

Personally, I'm looking forward to an ice rink, sounds fun and it's something else to do around here.

Can't wait. It will be so much nicer to not have to drive out to San Jose twice a week for some decent Ice time.

Jeff I apologize for taking so long to respond to your original point, but it has become clear after listening to Brozosky, Sullivan, and McGovern why we don't just "get going on it already". If this regiem is elected, they belive (as all have stated publically), that if even ONE citizen has input that "might" change their minds that it is their "polital obligation" to listen to that feedback. THAT is why virtually _nothing_ gets done in Pleasanton.

Sorry for using your positive energy to make a point Jeff, but in fact that is what these canidates for Mayor and City Council have stated is the "correct" way to do business.

Bottom line..... I couldn't agree with you more. Let's get this project done yesterday!!!

Who cares about those people living around the ice rink that have to deal with traffic, noise and high beam lights around the rink?

Open to public 5:00am to 1:00am. Great!

Also who cares about turning Stoneridge to another congested 580 hwy?

Let's move the plan through quickly to become another ugly town like San Jose, Milpitas.
