under siege or just for fun? Around Town, posted by Walter, a member of the Foothill High School community, on May 6, 2012 at 11:43 pm
Ok, so I double-checked that I didn't miss a news alert, but for the past twenty minutes, heavy military helicopters have been paralleling the ridge and 680 on our side of town. Possibly a Camp Parks exercise, but nothing announced and a bit disconcerting on a Sunday night when some of us have to be awake in less than 5 hours to go to work. I'm as patriotic as the rest of Pleasanton, but am wishing there was something in the local news as warning so that I can decide whether to hit the sack again and hope for a short sleep or hit the bunker!

I heard that too...but prior to the helicopters circling, there were a lot of sirens and then the helicopters showed up. Spotlights and all. Looked like they were searching the arroyo.

Why was it not reported on news!
If it was an exercise ,shame on them not warning the neighborhood! Honestly why are things kept so secretive around Pleasanton ! Makes you wonder. Right!?

I saw a bright flash of light at about 10pm coming from the foothills. I thought it was lightning, but didn't hear any thunder. Then I convinced myself it was a reflection from the TV.

Heard the commotion too - around 11.15pm last night - heard the police sirens and then the helicopters. The helicopters had their search lights on and seemed to be circling around the West Las Positas overpass over the 680. Went on for about 15 minutes then the helicopters left. Didn't see anything mentioned in the news today.

I am in downtown and was awake but heard or saw nothing-yet a friend over by the sportspark on Parkside said the helicopter was just above the rooflines of the houses.

i was awake and saw the helicopter. is was just circling around for about 15 minutes. i also heard a lot of sirens and a loud speaker. i live off muirwood and could clearly see the chopper. And could 100% hear a voice over a loud speaker. i thought there was a high speed or something because the spot light was on.

Nope, have not seen a clue or any explanation in the PW here, although editorial staff has been here deleting irrelevant posts. It would be nice if they followed up, given that so many of us were baffled.
