Vandals....shame on them. Hey neighbors, let's not give them any targets and park our cars in the garage.
Sure hope they catch these guys, but only after they find our PW troll's house in Birdland. In the meantime, check your local tire dealer for specials.
Or, you could stop treating your garage like a staging area for your next yard sale and park your car inside the garage. There's a novel concept......
"Park our cars in the garage" -? How about questioning your 14-18 year old son if he happened to be out wandering around in the middle of the night with his favorite knife on March 23 and/or April 15... Wake up parents. This is one (or more) of our kids.
Hey Tire-Dealer not all of us want to pay monthly fees to store stuff in high priced storage lots....since houses out here don't have basements we use our garages (I come from the Midwest, houses here are devoid of storage)....plus there's no "workroom" for tools etc. and have to share space with the laundry...good reason to have to park a car on the road if you ask me. I have faith that Pleasanton Peace Officers will get those doing this...eventually.
Serial Crimes: There are probably lots more slashed tires, where owners did not report.
But this is getting to be a LOT of money. And what if someone had medical emergency, or needed to get to the hospital?
Let's hope the police take it seriously, find a fingerprint on a car, or review a camera recording and catch and prosecute these vandals.
Let's hope that when they find the kids doing this they pay full restitution to everyone - not like the last time when the "FTU" group was caught and only partial restitution was made.
Let's make an example of these kids - treat them like criminals, as that is how they are behaving - doing it again and again.
What is the comment, "Sure hope they catch these guys, but only after they find our PW troll's house in Birdland." all about? I don't understand "PW troll's house"? What does this mean? Anyway, its not about parking inside or outside. I don't think it 'should' be necessary to hide in the garage. Its about catching these "Fun Seekers" and deal with them to bring this activity to a stop. Not about changing our way of life to accommodate their actions.
"Wake up parents. This is one (or more) of our kids."
How right. There should be an immediate curfew for everyone. Any person seen outside after the curfew would be subject to questioning and search by the PD. If found to be in possession of a knife or ice pick they should be jailed as the criminals they are.
Parents -- where are your kids at night? YOU are the reason this is happening. YOU have failed to instill any values or ethics into your kids. You breed em and them let em run wild. Maybe the parents of these useless losers should be locked up too. But bottom line, make the idiots pay every dime and all police costs for their actions.
If the PPD weren't so busy undercounting the throngs of masses who showed up at the patriotic Tea Party rally at Alameda and KFC, they'd have more time to search for fingerprints on every car.
And what about sattelite spy technology? I saw them use that once on CSI Miami. What is our unionized police force spending its money on anyway?
At this point it's anybody's guess. But is it a coincidence that all this began happening since we agreed to let Walmart come in and bust up the unions? Just askin'.
Bottom line, I'm not parking in my garage because thugs like this always find a way in. Once in, their as likely as not to eat your pets.
Steve, if you can imagine how a vandal slashes a tire, I don't believe that involves touching the car. It would just be them jamming a sharp object into the tire. Besides, I don't think prints can be taken from car tires. You watch too much tv!
Hope we catch these little [removed]!!
Refresh my memory, but didn't the police say the first and second instances of tire slashing were not related? Are we to assume this third example is also unrelated to the other two?
Quality police work right there.
I think that I'll be getting a video surveillance system for our house. This sort of crime should be more difficult to get away with now than 10 or 20 years ago. I seem to recall seeing a few stories on the PW where home and auto burglary suspects were identified and caught with the aid of outdoor video surveillance systems, including that recent pair of burglars in a black Cadillac from Tracy who were caught with the aid of video from some homeowner's surveillance system. Since many of the video systems work in the infrared (IR), criminals can't use darkness as a cover, either. The system I saw on Amazon includes four IR video cameras and a system with a 500 Gb hard disk capable of continuously recording video and costs about $330.
Ben: "Steve, if you can imagine how a vandal slashes a tire, I don't believe that involves touching the car. It would just be them jamming a sharp object into the tire. Besides, I don't think prints can be taken from car tires. You watch too much tv!"
So I take it you don't think much of Steve's other idea of taking the vandals out with a reduced-power photon torpedo from low earth orbit?
Sam your liberal montra can be sooooo condesending. Why should I -- ME -- be forced to pay $330 from the Radio Schaak you own when thats what I pay my tax money for?
Have you ever seen Google Maps, Sam? The saddlelite technology exists. The union police force is just too lazy using our tax money on police picnicks instead of what their supposed to be doing.
I think their afraid of what their going to see. I've got neighbors who have lost their cats and dogs, but the union police thinks it would be politically incorrect to show how their disappearing. (Clue: Hungry, pre-cannabalistic Refugees.)
Agenda? Who says theirs a police agenda? No way!
police are too busy setting up speed traps throughout Pls (revenue-collection) to do real police work. the yogurt store on tawny was tagged the other night, tires slashed and more to come. catching these culprits does not produce any dollars to the city or county.
After the writing of this article, we had two tires on our truck slashed as did a neighbor across the street. Because two on one side were slashed, all four will have to be replaced for an out of pocket expense of nearly $1000. It is just senseless vandalism. It is too similar to not be related, but after speaking to the Officer Jones, who took our report, they are doing quite a bit to find and eventually prosecute the criminals.
I would like to blame parents, the media, CSI, the Pleasanton Police Department, my messy garage, poor satellite technology and the sharpness of knives, but that won't help. I am grateful the destruction was something, not someone. I am praying the criminals are caught and will suffer the consequences of their actions. I am thankful to have had Police to call when this situation arose. I am appreciative I am living in a community where this is an exception, not the rule for news.
Amen, Janyne! I'm thankful for our Pleasanton PD, and for the fact that our police force is still able to respond to calls regarding slashed tires. Been in P-Town for 41 years, and overall, still happy to call it home.
Yes, certainly the slashing of tires must have something to do with Walmart potentially coming in and the unions being disturbed about it. Huh? How asinine can you get? Not much more...
The police call it slashing, but what would it take to actually slash a tire? Are these flat tires punctured? I know that I would not be able to do either to the tires I have on my vehicles
@steve - please go live elsewhere.
I truly believe all 3 of these events are related and it is probably a couple of youths sneaking out of the house after their parents are asleep. This last incident was at the end of spring break. One last night of trouble? Probably between midnight and 5 am. What kids missed school on Monday? What kids fell asleep in class (ok that probably won't work, hahaha). Unfortunetly, the shift that has the least amount of officers on duty is the midnight shift when this vandalism is occuring. But there is a curfew in Pleasanton - 10pm if you are under 18. I think the police to start enforcing it.
Steve from Stoneridge,
Funny you talk about being a conservative and you are not in support of the Police. Just because you give yourself a title does not make it so. May I recommend you listen to Mark Levine, as all good conservatives do, and take away the true conservative attitude and fundamentals. I also would ask what you have done for the community other than posting on a blog. Perhaps you could get off your ass and walk a beat..then call the real men at PPD if you see a crime...or you can sit in front of the computer as usual and tap your little keys...either way step up.
Just how do you think the Emperial President consodilates his power as he creates a Stalinist State? The police, that's who! As soon as the police unionized they got into bed with our beloved leader. There afraid to do anything to offend his majesty or the gutless sheep who bray out as they follow him. Look at the BART station for crying out loud! Look at the tire puncturers from you-know-where! Look at how its easy to get a speeding ticket goiong 43 in a poorly posted 25 school zone. But do the overtime donut eaters get the refugee(s) who ate my dog? Na-uh. Nada. Adios Amigo
Please, just go to the middle schools and high schools and ask around. You'll find the culprits bragging to all their friends about what they're doing. It's simple. It's kids who can walk safely through the area, non-conspicuous, part of the neighborhood types. As Pleasanton has grown there are many "hometown hoodlums" that sit right in front of our noses. It's cool to be a "gangsta", I believe they're call "whiggers".
Yesterday, I noticed the motorcycle cops were still out giving tickets for doing doing 30 in a 25 mph zone. Meanwhile, the vandalism, muggings, robberies, and assualts just keep increasing. Call members of the City Council, particularly The Three Stooges, and bitch like hell. We have to get the police focused on real crime rather than hiding behind bushes with their radar guns.
Hi Gates House, The group you are referring to is FSU!! I say they go interview those thugs from the lovely class of 2009!!
What is FSU?
So, the motorcycle cops were out there doing their job, is that what you are saying?
Two teenage boys now have been arrested for this.
Please see our story here:
Well, I guess the Police were doing more than just writing tickets yesterday. Now they can go back to eating donuts while helping Walmart bust their union and using spy satellites to catch aliens eating cats and dogs, oh and having tea parties at the fair grounds (catered by KFC). No, I don't believe that last sentence. But really, I am glad they got caught before I had a chance to see them working on my tires because then I would be under arrest.
Hey Steve --
Sure glad the cops caught those 14-15 year old union members slashing tires and released them into custody of their union steward, uh, parents...
