Is Pete Stark Being Honest?

Original post made by Dave, Birdland, on Apr 2, 2012

Read that Pete Stark claims a permanent resident tax exemption for his $2 million home on 6 acres of land in the State of Maryland.
How does he get away with this. Is this legal, and even if it is technically legal, is this the kind of shady politicians one wants representing us?

Goodness sakes, I don't know anyone who doesn't have at least a half dozen homes around the country. Heck, and how could life be worth living anyway unless you have 21 grand to toss off to a lobby to get a car elevator installed into your house. I don't know Stark personally, but I do know that he worked hard to give a sleezy entitlement group - the physically disabled - special access to government bldgs. I fought the good fight against it. Car elevators in my new La Jolla digs are one thing, ramps for the disabled? Golly! What will they be asking for next?

It's too bad that this is not taken more seriously by the public. Here is an elected representative that has thumbed his nose at the general public, and feels he is above any legal, moral compass.
Read the
OFFICE OF CONGRESSIONAL ETHICS
UNITED STATES HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
Report and Findings about Pete Stark and then think about what kind of person you want representing you. He has selective memory, doesn't recall doing something, will not supply documentation to back up his statement and refuses to supply documentation that has been requested through the Freedom of Information Act. This is not the kind of sleaze ball that I want to represent me. It wouldn't matter who is running against him, I would never vote for somebody that has demonstrated his obvious distain for the American public and whose moral compass has somehow been tilted the wrong way.

Leave it to mittens to defend another sleazy dem lifetime politician. Not to worry, though, Stark is older than dirt and will never get to retire to his Maryland mansion. If he's lucky, he will attain room temperature before any indictments are handed down.....I'm sure he'll end up spending eternity in a much warmer place.

Hey Mittens, it's okay that you own at least 6 houses (and that McCain owned 8 or 9). Because your a Republican, and its hard work defending America by denying entitlements for the disabled. If you can't walk up the courthouse steps on your own, you don't deserve to get your day in court. Elevators for your car, Mittens, is another matter, because your car can't be expected to walk up the steps of your multi-tiered mansion on its own.

The question isn't so much whether Mittens is serious. He is, after all, running for president. The real question is how Dave who began this thread can be so against presidential aspirants like Mittens owning at least 6 houses and spending 21 thousand to lobby La Jolla pols to put a car elevator into his new mansion. Support Mitt(ens) Romney in 2012!

Some rather foolish comments on a serious concern for us all. Regardless of political affiliation, look at what I originally said, and if you doubt any of it, please look at the Report and Findings on Pete Stark that is published in the OFFICE OF CONGRESSIONAL ETHICS
UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Do you want this kind of sleaze ball representing you? That is the question, check out the facts.

Simple, get off your duff and vote for another candidate. Get your friends and family motivated to vote. If you are too lazy to do that then you get what you get. Democracy is hard work. You got to put out some effort and not stand by thinking others will do it.

Ah, if only as simple as Lugnut puts it! The point here is to wake up the slumbering public to the facts. My vote is only one vote (unless of course, one is voting in Chicago!), however it takes many knowing the facts to vote out people like Pete Stark. I would ask Lugnut if he/she has read about Pete Stark and his abuse of power. If not, please do so.

It's the morons that continue to vote for him and so many in this town, county, district and state.
