How much money was spent on the war in Iraq?
State, National, International, posted by SCUBAMom, a resident of the Highland Oaks neighborhood, on Dec 15, 2011 at 12:10 pm

Welcome home to our troops who fought for a war that was started to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction it did not have. I'm so grateful that we have a president now that got rid of the real person who caused 9/11 to happened without involving everyone and their brother in law.

Thousands of wasted American lives and it is estimated that 150,000 Iraqis died during this conflict. Many in Europe, even those residing in the countries of the so-called "coalition of the willing", would like to see Colin Powell tried as a war criminal in The Hague. His performance at the U.N Security council when he made George W. Bush's case for WMDs in Iraq was the lie that started this mess.

In the movie 'W' it was Colin Powell's idea to go after Osama Bin Laden. It was Dick Cheney who suggested that we go to war with Iraq. It seems that George W. didn't do anything without consulting Dick Cheney first.

I suggest that the entire "W" administration be tried in the Hague/World Court for Crimes Against Humanity.

Arrest Trudy for spreading hate speech.

I just Wish that most Americans would realize that it was the 'W' Administration that helped us get into this black hole of debt with this war that NATO did not approve of.

OSCUBAMAMOM,

Thanks so much for enlightening us -- Now, please get back to us after Nov 2012.

President Obama brought the troops home from Iraq on the precise schedule negotiated by the Bush administration in December 2008, not a day sooner. In fact, President Obama attempted to negotiate an extension of our presence in Iraq beyond this month. He wanted to leave about 5000 troops there for the foreseeable future. But Iraq refused to agree to the legal protections Obama wanted for our service members who would remain. Obama is still leaving 13,000 civilians there who work for the embassy, provide for security and are involved in other programs in Iraq.

This is the same President Obama who took advantage of the Bush success in Iraq and sequent draw down to increase forces in Afghanistan last year. And the same President Obama who promised to close down Gitmo no later than two years ago next month. And this is the same president who has dramatically increased drone attacks in Pakistan since January 20, 2009, sent special operations troops recently to central Africa, Yemen and into Pakistan to kill Osama.

Given all of these things and more like them, I am certain that all of you will want to add the current president and all of his key staff members to the list of people you want to put on trial.

What happened in Iraq was not a "war". If it was a war Iraq would not exist anymore.

This military exercise should rightfully be called a "military police action".

We spent 854 billion dollars in Iraq to test new weapon systems. Just like we did in the Vietnam war (also a police action). Unfortunately the testing part was prolonged by eight years due to screw-ups by the CIA. Simple as that.
