Homeless Shelter near Pleasanton?
Comments on Stories, posted by Pleasanton Resident, a resident of the Country Fair neighborhood, on Dec 6, 2011 at 5:51 am

Yesterday's news of a man found dead in a sleeping bag under the freeway near Johnson Drive shouldn't happen in this area. Where is the nearest shelter for homeless men or women/children in this area? Can we open some of the church buildings in the evenings? I think we can get many volunteers/donations to help out if a building was offered. Will a church step forward? I have seen so many people sleeping in their cars at the library, and other "safe" areas in the last few months. Is the City or any non-profit involved in opening a building at night, especially with temperatures in the 20s/30s?

You're right, Cholo. And this guy wasn't even able to find a manger as a fallback option. Truth is, most people associate homelessness with criminality. Steve the Sick's comment is a case in point. But yes, tis the season! Criticize the Obama administration for not creating jobs, but then hate on those who find themselves jobless; criticize the Obama administration for the high rate of home foreclosures, but then hate on those who find themselves homeless.

Now it's buzz? Look Janie, remove that big chip on your shoulder and quit hyperventilating about your messiahs failures. No one mentioned the annointed man-child in any of the posts above, so why bring up his terrible record creating or retaining jobs, other than the bloated public sector.

Thanks for bringing it up, though. Can't wait for 2012!

Want to know how to stump Steve the Sick? It's about as difficult as stumping any 8 year-old. Either ask him for evidence, or present evidence that clearly illustrates the idiocy of his claims. Here's a sample of the latter. Specifically, here's a list of the "messiahs[sic] failures":

Expanded the children's health care bill (SCHIP);

Killed Osama bin Laden and friends;

Iraq war and occupation ends Dec 2011;

Afghanistan winding down;

Save U.S. from a severe depression;

Health care reform;

Wall Street reform;

Credit card reform;

Student loan reform;

Protected Social Security from Wall Street;

Protected Medicare from Republican cannibals;

Expanded the G.I. bill for Iraq-Afghan war vets;

Clean energy investment;

High-speed rail investment;

Equal wage law for women;

Helped repeal 'don't ask don't tell'

Will not enforce the Defense of Marriage (We hate gays) Act;

Saved U.S. auto industry;

Established the Bureau of Consumer Affairs;

Lowered Medicare drgu costs;

$26 billion to states, which was demonized by Republican governors while they fought for every dollar they could get their grubby hands on;

More still to come ... 2012 and beyond. Hope is real!!!
