Congratulations to the Quarry Lane High School Robotics Team...Now Regional Champs
Schools & Kids, posted by Congrats, a resident of Dublin, on Dec 3, 2011 at 10:22 pm

Hearty congratulations to the Quarry Lane High School Robotics Team today. They beat 15 other Silicon Valley teams at a regional championship meet in Redwood City. They now move on to the NorCal regional championships in the Spring. California can send the winners of both the NorCal and SoCal regional championships to the national championship event in St. Louis. National championships in the past have had audiences of over 20,000 screaming fans. An amazing event.

For those who would like more information about the national robotics competition, here is a link.

Web Link

The founder of this national robotics program is Dean Kamen, the inventor of the amazing Segway.

Does anyone know whether Amador or Foothill have robotics teams?

There is over $50 million in scholarship monies for the above robotics program!

Jill, There is more than one organization for these competitions. I looked at both high schools' web sites and found that Foothill has participated in Vex. Couldn't find anything for Amador. They could still both be competing. Here is another one I'm aware of: Web Link These programs are expensive and require an extraordinary amount of time from students and staff and parents, but very rewarding. Some of these high schools are competing very well against universities.

Thank you for this information, but the link you provided is of the same organization as the one provided by the original poster. There may be different competitions but I don't see where Amador or Foothill are participating. I may not be looking in the right place, tho.

Sorry for the dupe, Jill. Here's what I find when I search "robot" on the Foothill site: Web Link Maybe this is the same program too!

I do know that Harvest Park middle school has a robotics club and the teacher in charge of it is Lynn Gatehouse.
