Tis The Season for telephone crime
Crimes & Incidents, posted by mooseturd, a resident of the Pleasanton Valley neighborhood, on Nov 30, 2011 at 8:52 am

I have been getting frequent calls from 971-220-1771. Until yesterday I did not answer and they left no message. Yesterday in a weak moment, I answered. This turns out to be a straight up fraud call. They break numerous laws (violate do-no-call, robo dial recorded message, offer a service for purpose of fraud, etc.) They offer to lower your interest rates on your credit cards. Of course they need acct. #, SS#, mother's maiden name and your dog's name.

If you get this call please report them to the Do-Not-Call registry

If you have caller ID then I think that you should have the ability to block unwanted calls from certain numbers. That's how I deal with repeated unwanted telemarketing calls with my telephone system. Check the manual for your system.

I've been called by scammers and I always respond by saying 49% change + bills over and over and over and they hang up.

Telephone scammers are audio spammers: report every such call to the appropriate authorities and eventually they will act.
