A Solution to tax reform, the debt, jobs and healthcare
State, National, International, posted by If Only, a resident of the Danbury Park neighborhood, on Nov 13, 2011 at 11:17 am

If we could take the entire congress and all 50 state legislatures and create the following scenario. You have 60 days to come up with and pass new legislation to address all of these issues in the best longterm interest of the American people. At the end of 60 days if you have failed you will all be thrown out of office and be forced to pay back all income earned while in office and surrender all benefits.Does anyone doubt under such a scenario that we would have the reforms and changes needed to fix this mess.I wish all the powers to be would truly treat this as such a crisis instead of a political game that is neverending and self destructing.

If only....

If only ignorant posters could have received an adequate education.

If only ignorant posters were able to distinguish between a good law and any-piece-of-new legislation will do.

If only ignorant posters had even the most basic familiarity with how the "game" of American political processes works.

Thank you Tina, you've saved my time. Even Gov Jerry said we are loaded down with plenty of crappy laws and that "we don't need a law

for every issue". They know how to crank out unlimited crap. We first would have to elect competent individuals to write relevant laws. Deadlines mean little to them. I prefer quality over quantity.

If Only,

Beware simple approaches to complex issues: they rarely achieve the desired effect and often create other problems that are worse than the first set.

Slow and sure. That's the way.

Tina..I was simply making an absurd example of a situation that would make a point that congress could compromise and would if they were forced to.For you to call me ignorant and to have such a nasty, arrogant post says a lot about you.Maybe the fact that you did not understand the point of the post is a reflection of your intellect or lack thereof.People who are well educated usually have a little more depth and do not interpret things so literally.Have a nice day.
