I went to high school with Eugene - I think we had an English class together at Foothill (Ms. Hill). Eugene - My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of sadness. You can read some very loving messages on Legacy.com, your dad was admired by many!

I used to babysit you many years ago and remember your father always being very nice to me and also my family ~ the Mitchell's in San Ramon. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time.

My condolences go out to Gene's family. I so clearly remember the "Cinderella Season" -- that magical Super Bowl XV. Upshaw, Shell, Dalby, Marvin, and Lawrence allowed only one sack, and Jim Plunkett shined. Thank you Gene Upshaw for the wonderful memories!
It's never easy to explain how you feel when an icon passes away. I know he will be missed, and he left a hole in the lives of those around him. Gene is most certainly with God, and no longer in pain. May you rest in peace!
