Why Lock the Thread About the Car Thieves?
Comments on Stories, posted by why this one?, a resident of the Downtown neighborhood, on Oct 8, 2011 at 9:45 am

The PW locks threads whenever comments do not reflect their views but really -- why lock the thread about the cops responding promptly to a phone call then chasing and catching (!) the criminals?

If the first caller lived in Oakland he would have been told to go online and fill out a written report, no cops there every respond unless gun shots have been heard. For all of the posters who gripe about our PD citing speeders, would you rather they only investigate the crime after you are dead?

The thread was shut down because the only comments on it were inflammatory, racist and hateful.

And, you're right, that does not reflect the views of the Pleasanton Weekly and its staff.

With that explanation I will agree that the comments should have been deleted. Locking the thread to registered users only would work if some of us were not still opposed to being outed when we register.
